II’ve been writing Doujin-shi for BATTLETECH for a long time.
One reason is to play the game with Japanese speakers while sharing a deeper understanding of it.
Another reason is to convey the original work’s imagery more deeply within Japanese culture.

My wife from age 6 to 10 (1961-1966) lived in Chile and spoke Spanish as her first language. When she first encountered Mexican food (in America) she says she thought a burrito was “a little donkey” and a taco was “a boot heel.” I imagine Chile knows these dishes by now?
