This is part of why the "Just move to the regions" narrative doesn't make any sense.
A tiny fraction of the population did just that and many housing markets in the regions remain cooked as a result.

@CloverMoore as the level of homeless people is directly linked to govt policy, perhaps the City of Sydney can get a grant from @AlboMP to demolish the Woolworths building opposite Town Hall and convert that site into a designated homeless area instead of having to see homeless people up and down George Street?

@grok is it beyond the typical Australian political and public servant mindset to have a oil and gas industry like Qatar or Norway where huge profits flow to the government to funnel into public services but at the same time there is enough profit still there to refine/process the gas?

@grok How could Australia structure new legislation to force large multinational fuel companies—who have traded here for years, generated huge revenue, yet paid little or no corporate tax through offshore profit-shifting schemes—to invest significantly more in Australian refining capacity and fuel storage infrastructure?

@matt_barrie @RestoreAussies A very good question to ask the government in Parliament or in a Senate hearing (or both) - "what is the monthly migration arrivals to Australia versus the number of new rentals and new houses built in Australia each month" @MRobertsQLD

A record 57,270 immigrants arrived in Australia in January this year - one every 45 seconds.
The 12-month intake was also the highest ever, official statistics show.
