Guys blue is obviously more moral. Sure, red is logical. But blue is more moral. Anyone who thinks in 2nd order effects should advocate for blue. Just like the people who created our high trust societies would. Red voters destroy our society.
Tim Urban@waitbutwhy

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

@KingONumbers @sp6runderrated My point. It's not likely. Not in reality with real peril. A internet poll sure. Putting ones life on the line for real. I don't see it. You don't see people putting themselves at risk of fatal harm to save others as a rule.

@SAM_Milo_uk @sp6runderrated It is incumbent upon all of us to choose Blue, for it is likely to attain the pivotal 50% threshold. To select Red, once this imperative is duly realized, would constitute a profoundly imprudent and intellectually deficient course of action.

100%. Even in an online community made up of disproportionate Red Voters. Blue still wins

Blue kills everyone silly enough to press it. Because if this was real and not just a poll with zero personal risk then instinct and self preservation kick in and I see no situation where the majority don't go red. The idea that the majority would put themselves at risk of death for others is in reality a pipe dream . This does not happen in society. It's good this will only ever be a thought experiment.

My point is people are claiming "it's about others". When put under real peril, pressure it's hourse manure. I would never shoot 450v into another person. That immoral. Regardless of "Authority" over me yet 26 out of 40 did. Yet I see Red as the logical choice. I do not believe the majority of arguments for blue. If it was real, peril was real, pressure was real... The majority go red.

@SAM_Milo_uk @Hidden_Collect But the reason they didn't do that was because an external authority figure instructed them to. It literally has no relevance here to a private voting situation

@BysCys68812 @Hidden_Collect Did not say the Milgram Experiment was equivalent. Not even close. It shows people do not as a rule put others first by default.

@SAM_Milo_uk @Hidden_Collect Definitely a false equivalence. In the Milgram Experiment they were being prompted by an external authority to not prioritise others. No such figure exists in the button hyperthetical

@CadaverOfDaze @Aprilcots255097 @sp6runderrated Which itself is total hogwash. People don't do that. The 600,000 people on the kidney waiting list proves this. Not seeing swaves of people risking themselves. In reality. If it was real and life was in true perial the majority go red and blue kill themselves.

@SAM_Milo_uk @Aprilcots255097 @sp6runderrated you’ve altered the problem incorrectly. it would be deciding between watching ppl get brutally killed OR attempting to help someone out of the chipper not just “jump in and wait”. the concept isn’t self sacrifice for no reason- it’s attempting to save others at risk to the self

@BysCys68812 @Hidden_Collect Disagree. Donating a kidney is putting yourself at genuine risk of death to save another. Being a blue. Or does it only count with zero self peril?

@SonnyBunch These blues will all be out next week donating kidneys. That's a good thing. 600,000 lives are on the line. So many lives will be saved because they are good people who would put themselves at risk of death to save others. Or.... As I suspect... A bunch of virtue signaling.

@Kekius_Sage I assume all the blues are donating kidneys next week to put their life on the line for others? Or as I expect, virtue signaling? Only under real peril does the truth show itself.

@BysCys68812 @Hidden_Collect So to save another is worth the risk to yourself? So you have already donated a kidney to save another unrelated person? Real risk of death to yourself for another? Or are you, as I expect, virtue signaling.

@DaveJack727 @loserbent And? Needs 50%. So if you are so blue. Others are so important. You are willing to put your life on the line. I assume you have donated a kidney to save another already. Or is it just virtue signaling when there is zero risk to yourself?

@White_Crayon_00 @CypressDahlia Woo. This makes it real. Adds real peril. Yeah blues. Why have you not donated your extra kidney? Others are so important to you. Or is that just when there is zero risk?

You pretty much only press red if you want a ton of people to die lol. Like there's just no other way to look at it. "If 100% of people press red nobody dies" yeah but it's way easier to get 51% of people to press blue for the same outcome lol. You just want people to die.

@FelineEntity This poll will never show reality as there is zero peril. If real I highly doubt the majority goes blue. Instinct and self preservation is two powerful. You don't see 50%+ jumping into dangerous waters to save a drowning person. The peril is real.

If you have a person drowning in dangerous waters and 10 onlookers I do not believe 5 or more would risk life to try and save them. Maybe one or two at most. Once it's real, instinct and self preservation become powerful resistants. Thought experiment. You get a majority blue. If real. I very much doubt it.

@NarniaViviendo @SAM_Milo_uk @sp6runderrated It is the dominant behavior of our species to cooperate. This silly game of red and blue has been played millions of times until it became more instinctual than logic. Individuals pick red, but the SPECIES will always pick blue.

For me it's. If this was real and people's true instincts and self preservation kicked in I would expect far lower than 50% to choose possible death. The majority would choose safety. You see this in people stepping up to risk themselves to save others. So blue is a choice to die.

Blue is the obvious choice because even if you vote red and it’s supposed to be private, people will still grill you afterward and throw you out the airlock if you voted red. You can see the implicit threat of violence in the quote tweets. That solves the coordination problem!

@jrpoltwt @sp6runderrated Yes it does if people don't put themselves in peril. Blue puts yourself at risk on an assumption. "Some will choose blue". Yes and some jump of cliffs. Humans are flawed. It needs 50%. If real and instinct and self preservation kick in I highly doubt 50% will be achieved.
