Plenty of activist Judges with an axe to grind care more about their narrative than actual justice. I've seen courts send kids who outright stated they were being abused by their mothers back with them.

@WildBlackZ @ywomendeservles I've known a lot of people in DV situations over the years and I will say cops have gotten a lot better about treating DV situations as equal opportunity. 30 years ago that guy is going to spend the night in jail no questions asked. The main problem is courts haven't caught up.

@MonikaCinnyRoll Asmon's niche is being the voice of the common man. He's fairly simple and reductive when it comes to a lot of issues but he frames them in a way that typically aligns with the average person on the street. He's insightful when he speaks to that, less so when he steps outside it.

@Bruncla1 @SandyofCthulhu in Metric you need a ruler. If you want to measure in Imperial you can do it with your hands your forearms and your feet. Imperial isn't as good for precision as Metric but people day to day don't need absolute precision they need consistency.

@Bruncla1 @SandyofCthulhu It doesn't for several reasons. One is divisibility. Base 12 is more easily divisible than base 10. The other is what the scale is based on. In Metric everything scales, which seems better except you don't have a baseline that people can easily shorthand. If you want to measure 1

Do Europeans NOT know that Americans are taught how the metric system works in grammar school? We know how long a centimeter is. How long a kilometer is. How much a kilogram weighs. We’re a little shaky on liters. But we hear about the metric system all the time, and know how to convert. We just don’t do it unless we need to. So please stop with the bunkum that we don’t know about it.

@LundukeJournal I have a Windows 11 system with 16 gigs and a dual core 2.6 GHz CPU and it crawls. Like at least 90 seconds to pull up a browser crawls. Windows is definitely underplaying it's specs. I've also put Mint on it and it flies.

@kangminlee I think an actual answer is that a large portion of their identity is built on shame. Shame of being oppressed shame of being slaves they've only recently been able to build their own identity, with relatively few achievements. So they look outward to co-op them from other groups
