We went away from full leaderboards and went to a King’s of the Week leaderboard instead (the apostrophe isn’t a mistake) More exclusive. Top 3 Guys. Top Overall Girl. Guys consistently stay after class or come back after school to try and break ties or get on the board.

@Scott_Damman “Speed Training” should encompass Acceleration, Max Velocity, Change of Direction and Vertical/Horizontal/Lateral Jumping.

Open question to S&C… Since its Acceleration, and changes of, that is highly relevant to 90%+ of the athletes you coach, why is ‘speed training’ the thing often promoted? I’d want to be coached by someone proficient in acceleration training.

@Tony_Villani_ I track and program Broad Jumps and Triple Broad Jumps the exact same way as Vertical jumps…with VERY good results.

Serious question. Bc I do both. But if the most explosive CMJs on Force Plates directly correlates with Broad Jump, why not just use Broad Jump? I kind of have an answer but am interested to hear others. (And before you say all the other data, explain how you use it).

@Brandon_L_Davis Districts here very rarely will allow for an "athletes only" class. Curriculum directors and school boards won't pass it. Not sure if it's true in all WI high schools, but I don't know of anyone here who gets an athletic period.

If a school wants to add performance training into the school day, here’s how to do it right. ✅ S&C coach ✅ Schedule whole teams in one period ✅ Head coaches present for their team’s lift ✅ Non-athletes get their own period. Only allowed in athletic periods with permission

This whole no dumbbells under 40lbs thing has people losing their minds on this platform. The comments have not disappointed 🤣

@SquatUniversity I believe it’s only referring to dumbbells. If weight plates included I would agree with you.

@SquatUniversity What exercises are they doing that they need dumbbells less than 40#? I’m guessing there’s plenty of other equipment they can utilize. I’ll agree it’s a silly flex but it’s in no way reckless and irresponsible.

Hopefully this isn’t true. If so, it’s one of the most reckless & irresponsible things I’ve ever seen in a weight room.

In my opinion, Horizontal Force is the most difficult to train. Everything in the weight room is pretty much Vertical Force. Sleds can often be clunky and/or difficult to individualized proper loads easily. The answer? @SHREDmillSpeed and @1080motion! Both are amazing tools for easy and efficient ways to train Acceleration and Horizontal Force!

Does anyone train fucking hard anymore? I honestly don’t give two shits anymore about a HSFB kid hitting a heavy single. I wanna see some DUDE get under the bar and smoke 10x2 max effort back squat >90% @ .3 m/s and then wobble out of the rack after and then get up 2’ later and ask for more. DBAMFP!

We have 52 “Testing Weeks” a year. We record vertical jump, broad jump, triple broad jump, 5-0-5, Fly’s and sprints every week. We test Bench, Squat & Deadlift every week. 6 rep max, 5 rep max, 4 rep max, 3 rep max, 2 rep max, or 1 rep max. No wasted weeks.

@StumpfStrength i love the idea of testing sprinting weekly, but can you elaborate on the max testing of lifts? are these true all out go till you can’t, or is there some nuance to this. would be concerned about burn out

@VanJrake There certainly is some nuance. Simply put if we’re training sets of 3, the “3RM” is the most weight you can do that day for 3 reps. Minimize failed reps as that will accumulate the “burnout”
