@TatiGo13 @tacosylibertad Mainly retired, but if you have a remote job or online type business you won't pay taxes in Panama. You wouldn't want to work for Panamanian wages, and the professional careers are limited to Panamanians, plus you'd need to speak fluent Spanish.

@TristinHopper @erdocAA If you think about it, it's politically better than "white elephants" because they leave a physical reminder of grift. What they do now falls into the collective memory hole within days. Until the bill eventually comes due that is, but they're already long gone.

What's truly mind-boggling about all the debt is how it was wasted. Nothing was built. Nothing was improved. One of the greatest outlays of cash in the history of our species was squandered on nothing.

@it_unprofession Get a Wise account. You get 3 virtual cards. I had a newspaper sub that was hell to cancel. I unfroze a "junk" virtual card long enough for the website to accept my "new" payment method, then froze it again. It bounced, and they cancelled it for me without any more hassle.

Canceling a gym membership shouldn't require a hostage negotiation. I joined a local fitness club three years ago and stopped going almost immediately. Yesterday I finally decided to stop paying the monthly fee. I logged into their app. There is no cancel button anywhere in the UI. I checked the website and it told me to call support. Support told me I had to submit a cancellation request in person. I drove to the gym on my lunch break. The manager looked at me like I was abandoning a puppy. He asked why I was leaving. I told him my personal ROI on this membership is completely negative. He offered to freeze my account for a small maintenance fee. I told him I just want to sever ties entirely. He sighed and said I need to provide a handwritten letter of intent and thirty days notice. I am currently drafting a formal breakup letter to an elliptical machine. I might just cancel my credit card. It seems easier.

@Smileyyeg IDK why he's being blamed for the crossings when his stances have been consistent. I could see it if he pivoted hard on issues, but he has not. Toning down rhetoric isn't pivoting.

Responses from conservatives to my argument that Poilievre should step down have convinced me he should not. If he is that loved among conservative supporters we should stick with him. Canadians don't like him, but they don't like us either.
