@HobbyistMiner correction: jets in 2026 are slower than I had penciled into my brain. More like Mach 0.75 cruise. SAD

Dirt Cheap Banks
Dirt Cheap Banks@dirtcheapbanks·
Found a bank on DirtCheapBanks.com that has been open since 1885, never borrowed a dollar, owns its real estate, has zero classified loans, and trades at half of what it is worth. The CEO is 77 with no heir and a fat CIC payment waiting. The acquisition window opens in 22 months.

@BobGroyp @abhay @helium -guy who followed the rules and earned hundreds of millions of $MOBILE providing fish in the ocean with GPRS coverage at moments it happened to actually work as intended.

@BobGroyp @abhay @helium I remember the perfectly spaced Helium miners spread over China a few years ago... They'll always figure out a way to scam if you give them any room at all to construct a façade outside the rules. And those were the ones where they didn't even bother trying to cover up

@aschaefer @abhay @helium Bros hotspots are 10% of the network. Great for metrics, but at what cost? At the end of the day, reputation and credibility is everything and having this shit on our network is terrible for long term optics

Yep that's my big focus lately coming at it from both the DePIN side and also as a private pilot & drone hobbyist from a family where we're all aviators in one way or another. Two approaches right now: I have some @4dskyapp installations which cover the two ADS-B bands, 1090ES and 978 UAT in the US, with a single station able to pick up most traffic over an entire metro area from ground level up pretty well. Those would need far less redundancy to provide sufficient coverage... think: many hundreds, not many thousands for the CONUS. However commercial & >249g UAVs currently use far shorter distance spectrum in the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi bands in the US, so if FAA standardizes on that as opposed to requiring each UAV to tx/rx via ADS-B then there will be a LOT more density required and location will matter more (near sensitive infrastructure, population centers, etc). That's what @FliteGrid will address so I'm going to tread lightly at first with that once they launch later this year to see what the demand looks like for that data. If it seems to be the direction the industry keeps heading and there's not a better solution that appears I'll put their gear in far more locations than my 4dsky stuff that's on a few roofs/hangars to provide ADS-B coverage.

@aschaefer I think there is something big coming with data, and drones. US public and private need both from an offensive an defensive prospective I’m looking for data buyers. Daily

I have the hardest part of the deal done; thousands of residential and commercial lease locations signed for 10 years to generate revenue separate from their day to day operations Looking to use X for mass reach here, and know I may be shooting into an abyss Anyone looking to partner?

@MCCCANM "Red on right is wrong" is one of a handful of things permanently etched into my brain. More useful than other contenders like IPMATC.

Btw I wish it were two years ago when I could rationalize more diverse DePIN hardware installations over a wide geographic area, such as GEODNET as one great example that penciled out alright with risk and return until, say, about a year ago. But that & other DePIN projects just haven't been anywhere close to Passpoint-enabled offload's returns and solid trajectory as far as being something that you can count on having a value associated with it and a competitive marketplace to trade that value with XNET showing that Helium's not the only game in town and in the future perhaps vice versa.

It sounds like you're already on a path to taking this on in an intelligent way. Again just going down the list from easiest & cheapest to hardest & most expensive, if some of these locations already have enterprise level Wi-Fi 6/7 hardware you might literally be able to just turn on some portion of your total potential offload in the APs software. You probably know this like with Cambium gear for example. I don't really have much else to add besides the fact that yes it is definitely worth getting hardware that can turn your sites' ATT & TMO offload potential into revenue ASAP. How you scale that either internally or with a partner that manages networks like this and knows how to slice up and route that data to the highest paying channel is really the main thing it sounds like.

@sellercarry More people would feel this way if they regularly saw 4-figures (or more) go out at a time to cover liability insurance premiums.

Recently got this old industrial property under contract. 1.3 acres, 16k SF of warehouse space, 5 tenants, Orlando. Simple plan to improve property (new roofs, asphalt, unit renovations) and bring rents to market. Rents are ~40% below market. We own same asset type nearby.
