FliteGrid: Q&A Thread Q: What is FliteGrid? FliteGrid is a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) that detects, tracks, and identifies unmanned aerial vehicles. Its sensors monitor airways and read Remote ID data from passing drones, documenting their flight paths and capturing key identifying information. This data is then compiled on a platform for monitoring American drone traffic, which government and commercial entities pay to access.

Decentralized networks are often discussed in terms of the equitable distribution of value. But it's also about the equitable distribution of risk. Deployers take on the risk of building a network in exchange for speculative (sometimes nonexistent) rewards. Oftentimes, they’re simply treated as a method for companies themselves to derisk by shifting manufacturing costs to a third party. It’s not always a great position to be in. Two solutions: 1. Deploy for a company with proven demand. When a company already has 8 figures of annual revenue, you don't have to wonder whether the money actually exists or not. 2. Derisk your own operations using retail capital. The second one is what @FliteGrid will enable through its partnership with Fractals. With @fractalsfi, you’ll be able to deploy hardware and immediately recoup your initial spend, or even better, deploy hardware that belongs to the pool for a cut of its profits.
