FliteGrid: Q&A Thread Q: What is FliteGrid? FliteGrid is a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) that detects, tracks, and identifies unmanned aerial vehicles. Its sensors monitor airways and read Remote ID data from passing drones, documenting their flight paths and capturing key identifying information. This data is then compiled on a platform for monitoring American drone traffic, which government and commercial entities pay to access.

FliteGrid hardware doesn’t just earn money – it gives you a window into your own airspace. You can view flight paths, Remote IDs, and even travel histories for every drone you see. Also, it earns money.

If your drone isn't broadcasting Remote ID, you're liable. Right now, you just have to trust the manufacturer that it is. @gjordan and @FliteGrid found most drones don't broadcast properly, whether due to bugs or zeros. They're building the infrastructure to fix it.

With nearly $60M raised, DoD as an early customer, 1M+ flights tracked, FAA validation, and a CEO who helped write the rules the industry operates under, @skysafe/@FliteGrid is positioning itself to be the backbone of the country's entire UAS Traffic Management infrastructure! CEO @gjordan will be joining the space next Tuesday to cover it all! Set your reminders! x.com/i/spaces/1qxvv…

The stars are aligning for @FliteGrid! - federal regulatory mandate (Remote ID) - two presidential executive orders demanding airspace sovereignty, - $500M+ in government grant funding flowing to drone detection buyers - strategic investment and partnership from Motorola Solutions CEO @gjordan will be joining the space next Tuesday to cover it all! x.com/i/spaces/1qxvv…

When you deploy FliteGrid hardware, you do more than just earn revenue. You also get to view the airspace above your own home. Here's a screenshot of a San Diego drone flight captured last week. Live on @SkySafe's platform:

FliteGrid is nearly unique in launching a network that already has customers. Before the first hardware unit even ships, the DOD, DHS/CBP, the FAA, allied militaries, airports, stadiums, and universities are already paying money into the network.

DePIN tokens are dead. At least the way most people think about them. Last year everyone were chasing pumps, illiquid markets, failed buybacks. But tokens are almost never what keeps a DePIN project alive. We moved to stables, hybrid equity+token models, revenue-first design. People and demand > tokens. Had a great convo with @Rusiecki recently and it nailed something I keep seeing: most DePIN projects build infrastructure but almost nobody builds demand. That's the whole problem. Networks keep adding nodes, inflating capacity, looking impressive on dashboards. Infrastructure nobody uses? Worth zero. We flipped the approach, start with demand, aggregate supply after. Sounds obvious but almost nobody does it. Raw infra is a commodity. Bandwidth, storage, nodes in itself are not a business. Scraping, datasets, cloud, APIs, selling outcomes - that's where margins actually live. You don't sell pipes, you sell what flows through them. DePIN is a marketplace problem. Most fail because supply is overscaled and demand is weak af. Find real buyers first, lock in revenue, then scale supply. Recurring revenue is the most defensible asset. Everything else is optional. TL;DR: DePIN isn't about decentralizing infrastructure. It's about monetizing idle resources. Almost everyone is doing it backwards. What demand-first approaches are you seeing actually work?

This is a project to keep an eye on! @FliteGrid is a decentralized drone tracking network and as the drone space continues to explode there is going to be a huge market here.

The most exciting DePIN of 2026 is expected to start shipping hardware by end of year Millions in existing revenue backed by contracts with the DoD, Homeland Security, PGA and many more @FliteGrid is building out the largest decentralized drone detection network in the US Deployers - if you have rooftop locations near airports, ports, critical infrastructure, stadiums or borders I highly suggest you make the effort to get in touch with the flitegrid team For everyone else - you'll be able to "own" the hardware indirectly through @fractalsfi by funding high quality pre-qualified deployments

This is the best summary so far of why FliteGrid is a deployer's dream. When a DePIN has existing customers, its rewards are paid out by revenue instead of dilution. More reliable rewards, more resilient token.
