What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie?

@RoyalistW I can tell you have never been there. You are trapped with what feels like no way out. You are a rat trapped with your arm stuck in a mouse trap. Everything is crushing you on all sides. Life becomes unbearable and you feel you have no other options.

@JoePostingg And yet, we were told to not use that one. Guidance was given to get rid of EOL hardware and to update to the latest firmware, and to get rid of TP-link. I will not be using cheap Chinese hardware.

Threat actors exploited a bug in certain end-of-life TP-Link routers to attack MS365 accounts, and TP-Link released an out of band firmware update to address. This is not a knock against TP-Link.
Bryan Soemo@bsoemo

@JoePostingg ANYTHING but TP-Link. I am band from using that on my own home network by my job since I work from home. They have been known to be used in massive botnets multiple times. This is pretty much the worst advice.

@MirrorManStanly @tomwarren Odd then that our security team said you are not allowed to use them. Didn't call out any others. I trust them more than some rando that is using cheap Chinese hardware.

@bsoemo @tomwarren That happens with virtually all residential and small business routers. It's not unique to TP-Link lol It's just because there are so many that exist

@MirrorManStanly @tomwarren This is based on actual data of massive botnet attacks, which the majority come from TP-link routers. Try again.

@bsoemo @tomwarren Just because you have some weirdos in your company brass, doesn't mean TP-Link makes a bad product. They consistently make good products. Your FCC, NSA, and CIA have their hooks in far more than some Chinese spyware.

If your router is more than a few years old you should buy a TP-Link Archer BE3600 right now. Good home routers basically won't exist in six months, you'll have to buy an enterprise device if you want something that actually works.

@MirrorManStanly @tomwarren Ew, no tp link is very bad, and probably part of the reason for this rule change. I can't use it at home per my company policy since I work remote. They are that bad.

I personally use this myself You dont even need a router with an SFP port You can buy something like the TP Link MC420L (this is what i use) Its a 10gig SFP to RJ45 Media convertor and this plugs into your router’s WAN port just as it would do currently If 10gig is way too overkill for your setup They also have a 1gig MC220L Which should be cheaper There are also cheaper SFP modules incase you do not require 10gig Such as the HSGQ SFP XPON Module This is a 2.5gig module which should be around $50 Much better than the shitty hardware any ISP provides I always recommend people to replace with own hardware when financially feasible for them

Today i learned, someone have created a SFP+ module to bypass AT&T Routers. the module have a open config, that allows you to copy paste the info from the AT&T config and bypass having to use the ISP routers the module is 100$ and then you need a router with sfp+

wtf did i just read LMAO ai-powered cows worth $2 billion are using an algorithm called the “cowgorithm” to boost farming productivity (i’m not fucking joking) - Halter makes ai-powered cow collars that virtually monitor health, location and herd cows - farmers literally tap a button on the app and the cows gather for milking - 600,000 cow collars already live - peter thiel is backing their latest round worth $2 billion every fucking time i think ive seen the most ridiculous (but cool) application of ai i am proven wrong.

🚨Someone just open sourced a computer that works when the entire internet goes down. It's called Project N.O.M.A.D. A self-contained offline survival server with AI, Wikipedia, maps, medical references, and full education courses. No internet. No cloud. No subscription. It just works. Here's what's packed inside: → A local AI assistant powered by Ollama (works fully offline) → All of Wikipedia, downloadable and searchable → Offline maps of any region you choose → Medical references and survival guides → Full Khan Academy courses with progress tracking → Encryption and data analysis tools via CyberChef → Document upload with semantic search (local RAG) Here's the wildest part: A solar panel, a battery, a mini PC, and a WiFi access point. That's it. That's your entire off-grid knowledge station. 15 to 65 watts of power. Works from a cabin, an RV, a sailboat, or a bunker. Companies sell "prepper drives" with static PDFs for $185. This gives you a full AI brain, an entire encyclopedia, and real courses for free. One command to install. 100% Open Source. Apache 2.0 License.

Everyone says “AI will take all the jobs.” If that happens… how does this future actually work? No jobs → no income → no spending. So who buys things? Who pays rent? Who keeps the economy moving? What am I missing here?

It’s Ma’am, PhDelightful 🇺🇸
I’m the sickest I’ve been in awhile and the doc at urgent care says “it’s probably allergies.” Why are they like this? I could barely get myself dressed to even come to the doc, can barely talk, and she says allergies? Anyway, I was able to get a steroid pack and antibiotics, but that was only after telling her I’m already doing all the other meds she wanted me to try. They really think we’re just idiots don’t they?

Nathan is talking about GA. Let's talk about Intune Admin because thats all that is required for the Stryker incident. If your GA gets popped, sorry, idk what to tell you. Everyone knows how dangerous it is. We've been saying it for years, especially me with Intune Admins. BEST CHOICE IS ALWAYS PAWS!! OTHER OPTIONS? Admin must not be able to login to Intune portal unless: ***a. FIDO2 Authn ***b. MANAGED device required in CAP with device filters where device trust is appropriately configured ***c. Must come from specific IP of SWG aka Named Locations/Zones d. PIM requires another admin approval. e. Validate EDR is checking at all times f. Restricted browsers - NO EMAIL Allowed!! NO TEAMS!! NO CHAT APPS!! Just admin stuff!! g. Restricted admin units h. Intune Specific RBAC to decrease blast radius This is not a pick one or two list. A, B, and C must be all included. This day in age knowing the current threat landscape, your admin devices should have Restricted browsing and no email. The threat landscape has evolved a lot in the past year and phishing has gotten incredibly hard to spot when you are facing a very advanced mean nerd.
Nathan McNulty@NathanMcNulty

If you think Intune's multi-admin mode is going to save you from a phished Global Admin, I have bad news... GA can just create a second admin and approve their change ;)

@SkyTheViking I like gentle but firm parenting. There are clear boundaries, but I am not going to be a tyrant when they are crossed. We don't tolerate police treating people how some people treat their kids.

Call me crazy, but I'm not going to implement corporal punishment in my household just because my kid has emotions. I'm not a *gental parenting* kinda gal, either. But like...if you're mad because your child is mad...that sounds like a you problem. If you learn how to navigate your own emotions, you'll be better prepared to lead your child through theirs.
