@SD4SCIII @PamelaEvette More to life than one point of view. Different life experiences can bring people to different destinations. You are simply intolerant and will justify your hate anyway you can. Youre just as bad as those you protest. You are simply a bigot, just on the other side.

They’re not discriminating against conservative views, in the end you were dropped because of your hateful rhetoric against the students. Calling them a “woke mob.” It was disrepectful and if you can’t be respectful towards the students then you shouldn’t speak at their commencement.

What happened at S.C. State University this week is emblematic of what's happening at institutions across our state and country, where the far left has silenced freedom of speech and pushed its radical, anti-American agenda for far too long. I applaud the members of the General Assembly who, like me, firmly believe that not one dime of taxpayer money should ever go to a school that discriminates against conservative views. It certainly won't happen when I'm governor.

@wachfox Racism and bigotry has no place in South Carolina. SCSU and its students should be held to the same standards as the other colleges. Threatening violence over a white lady speaking at their graduation is deeply disappointing.

I didn’t know that uninviting the Lt. Gov for calling black students a woke mob and radical leftist was political pressure. Most South Carolinians call it the right thing to do. We’re in a sad state of affairs when we defend condescending politicians
Gil Gatch@GilGatch

Public universities exist to be a marketplace of ideas, not a gatekeeper of acceptable opinions. When a taxpayer-funded institution invites a speaker and then rescinds that invitation based on political pressure or ideological disagreement, it sends the wrong message to students and to the public. The role of a university is not to shield people from views they may disagree with, but to expose them to a wide range of perspectives and allow them to think critically. That principle becomes even more important, not less, when the speaker is a public official or a candidate for statewide office. Deciding which voices are allowed and which are not based on viewpoint undermines the very purpose of higher education and erodes trust in public institutions. Taxpayer-funded universities should reflect the full diversity of thought in our state, not just the views that are most comfortable or politically popular on campus. At the same time, I recognize that universities must balance competing concerns, including campus safety and the right of students to express disagreement. But those concerns cannot become a justification for silencing speech. If public institutions are going to serve all of the people of South Carolina, they must remain committed to open dialogue, intellectual diversity, and the principle that no viewpoint should be excluded from the public square. @PamelaEvette @IAmNickReynolds @JoeBReporter @wis10 @thestate @postandcourier

Fine. I’ll do it again today. QB threw 8 of his 18 touchdown passes in a 2 game stretch. He averaged 1 touchdown per game the entire season leading up to this. With teams like Charlotte, Georgia State and South Carolina State on the schedule. Connor stallions said himself that defensive signals were the ones most prominently used when trading info. Which clearly explains the offensive explosion from literally nowhere. This same QB got his OC fired this season because the offense was so dreadful. And was beat out of his job in the NFL by a dude no one had ever heard of from Louisville. The following year against an arguably similar Tennessee team he went for 169 yards and a pick with no touchdowns. Why so much regression from a guy who lit up the same defense 11 months earlier?

Tennessee’s 63-38 loss to South Carolina in 2022 is re-trending online, and fans still believe that the Gamecocks cheated 🍊 Tennessee fans still believe that former Michigan coordinator Connor Stalions had something to do with the #Vols upset loss in Columbia. In 2022, Stalions bought a ticket to Tennessee’s 44-6 win against Kentucky at Neyland Stadium, and three weeks later the Vols dropped out of the CFP picture following the loss to SCar. Stalions denied on a podcast in September that he assisted the Gamecocks in the lead up to the matchup with the Volunteers. “I’ve never met anyone at South Carolina,” said Stalions on “Bunch Formation.” “… There was no trying to screw over Tennessee.” NCAA investigators found that Stalions arranged in-person scouting on at least 58 different occasions from 2021-2023. Vols fans still keep this conspiracy to this day, and video resurfacing online of “Tennessee’s worst loss in the CFP era” has sparked debate once again. Do you believe something fishy occurred?

@GrantForSC No they have not. Theres 23 white kids enrolled. All the instructors think the same, along with all the students, and the administrators. Its the definition of an echo chamber and this is proof that it is. No one outside the agenda is welcome.

The rescinded invitation isn’t about students hearing diverse ideas. In fact, they’ve heard those ideas their entire collegiate career. That’s why they’re graduating

And while we’re here, let’s set the record straight. NOBODY said the Lt. Gov couldn’t come to the campus of S.C. State. In fact, the question that should be asked is how many times in her life has she even stepped foot on campus…

You’re a South Carolina fan. In over 150 years of football. If the 4 team CFP had always been around. You would have a grand total of 1 single 4 team playoff appearance. In 2013. Idk why yall continue to do this to yourselves lol.
Mike Honcho@scz71864

@Clemson_Addict You wouldn’t make the 4 team playoff now or any other time past 2020

Now back to SCSU I am concerned with how the LT Governor will respond and how the state will target SCSU even more now. All I got to say is yall get ready to help bail out folks AND put up money for donations because that HBCU may lose even more funding if they already haven’t.

Evette met with the press this morning after SCSU pulled her as it's commencement speaker. Long story short: she's unapologetic, including around "mob" comments, said her speech was intended to be uplifting. The university president has also not personally been in touch.

It’s hard to imagine that a caucus would claim to support freedom and then demand that their state’s largest HBCU be defunded because students used their first amendment rights, but in South Carolina you don’t have to just imagine…
Nick Reynolds@IAmNickReynolds

Looks like members of the @SCFreedomCaucus now formally calling on SCSU to be defunded in the budget, per a letter I was just sent. They’d been expressing this on social media since yesterday, so somewhat expected.
