I love that the past few times I’ve posted, people have started replying with pictures of their dogs & to anyone reading this who thinks maybe you should also reply with dog pictures, I say this: absolutely you should, gimme them puppy pics!

@Harryslaststand Where in Ontario are you? Is there anything you want or need?

Right now, Harry is in a hospital in Ontario Canada where like the NHS, healthcare is free at the point of use and also under threat of privatisation, from right wing forces.

@patrick_oshag And even granted your premise, how can you judge the permanence, or even likelihood, of personal change as you’re reading? Surely anything of real import will take time to absorb in and of itself, never mind in conjunction with what you might read later?

@patrick_oshag But why is reading only worthwhile if it permanently changes you? Would you only look at a statue if you were sure that it would impact you that way? Listen solely to music that’s impactful?

Fun exercise: review every book you’ve read and ask “did this permanently change me?” For me, roughly 1 in 100 did Of the “99,” I hardly finished any Reading strategy—keep reading if good, then: -Start as many books as possible -Finish as few as possible -Re-read the “1s”

@redtdi @riversgr Wherever it's so muddy/foul that yaks would refuse to go, but wait 'til the weather is so bad that yaks wouldn't go out in the first place.
