I had a productive meeting with law enforcement, department, and community leaders today on 6th St discussing the unacceptable conditions on our streets and how we can get results. The Fentanyl State of Emergency Ordinance will be crucial to getting this crisis under control.

Today I announced my co-sponsorship of Mayor Lurie's Fentanyl Emergency Package. We've seen far too much suffering on our streets. This set of actions will take steps towards saving lives, getting people into treatment, holding drug dealers accountable, and safe, clean streets.

Today I met with our Drug Market Agency Coordination Center (DMACC), alongside City Leaders. By making DMACC permanent and passing the Fentanyl State of Emergency Ordinance, we will build a holistic approach to disrupt illegal drug sales, public drug use, and illegal vending in our City.

Over the course of my campaign, I made a promise to the Tenderloin that I would work tirelessly to shut down open air drug markets by funding and expanding our coordinated public safety efforts like the Drug Market Agency Coordination Center (DMACC). In our first week, we are delivering on that promise.

Was just at @DanielLurie 's inauguration. So refreshing. Feeling full of hope. - Spent 70% of his speech talking about the drug, homelessness, and safety crisis: "recovery is possible" was his message - Stayed tactical and introduced a bunch of novel ideas, like a dedicated hospitality district @SFPD task force, a dropoff center for people who refuse help, and public private partnerships to rapidly expand shelter - Made clear that SF will NOT be a destination for drug dealers and drug users, and that those coming here will be held accountable - Promised that despite the budget cuts we need to make, our first responders will not be affected Most of all, Lurie came off like the genuine, decent guy I know him to be. He asked for this job, understands his mandate, and knows the time is NOW to make change happen. Best of luck to him. I hope he succeeds, for all our sake.

As we continue to focus on non-profit accountability in San Francisco, we must look at our own city departments first as they are enabling much of what we see today in regards to misappropriation of funds. Take @SF_DPH for example. sfstandard.com/2024/03/01/san…
