SEO spoiler alert: The old "see who's ranking and do it slightly better" method is no longer working. But what is working in 2025? My buddy (and SEO GOAT) Pawel explains what you can do to continue building organic growth. Go check the video below! 👇 youtube.com/watch?v=CVkaIz…

@steveofmcleod Huge respect @steveofmcleod ! Sometimes you just need to take bets and this one is big. 💪🙌 But it’s not irreversible and I’m sure you gathered enough insight to mitigate risks. Good luck! 🍀🚀

Decision made: Feature Upvote is repositioning as a platform for video games to manage player feedback. I've done tons of research and thinking and now it is time to be decisive and act. Our target audience until now was "product managers" in any and all industries. But that's too broad, and shared by many of our competitors. So we're narrowing down to one specific industry - video games. An industry where our existing customers seem content, where listening to users (i.e. players) is extremely important, and where word of mouth has been working great for us. As I write, our website design and home page content are being made more "video games-y". We're publishing case studies with games industry customers, we're adding some new content for the games industry, and I'll soon be speaking at events, games hubs, etc about managing player feedback. It's scary to be making a dramatic change to our positioning 7 years in. But also enjoyable - and reversible if it proves to be a mistake.

@mdausinger @The_Tech_In_Me @refiner didn't know you invented micro surveys! They're a great first brick of the XM suite we're working on, thanks :) anyways, we get back building product for the small and poor self-hosters out there 🫡

@mdausinger @lkr What’s the best tool you’ve found? Example looks like Notion, right? Not that the tool matters more than the actual documentation, but there’s some wiki-like ones I’ve seen that are… not great. It should be at least nice to use.

Something I take really seriously is documentation. It makes a HUGE difference to making your company run more efficiently. Here's our marketing docs - these are largely reference, not SOPs. Though SOP style is in there when needed for sure.

Podscan.fm got funded by @calmfund! 🥳 I said no to many offers, but I said yes to this one. @tylertringas' Calm Company fund offered a bootstrapper-compatible deal I couldn't resist. Here's why I agreed, how it went & what will happen now: tbf.fm/309

@steveofmcleod @mdausinger Yeah me too. The whole reason why I brought the docs and blog to the static site generator was because I didn’t want to serve them via a subdomain 😅

The more I think about it, the more I regret not having build the marketing website with Rails. All the problems I have would have been solved. Static site generators are nice, but as soon as you have non technical people helping you out, it becomes a hassle. Having a database is so nice!

Started the day with a major outage leading to 2 hours of downtime for @refiner. 😵 We wrote two emails to our customers explaining the issue and informing them about our progress. The first and so far only reply we received definitely changed the trajectory of our day. 🫶
