Let's be clear — an order to give "no quarter" means to take no prisoners and execute soldiers who try to surrender.   It is a violation of the law of war and the Geneva Conventions.    As a former Army JAG who trained soldiers on the law of war, it is clear that @SecWar must go.

U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell
Joe Kent testified before the Senate one year ago that Iran and its terror proxies threatened U.S. servicemembers in the Middle East. He said it would be an honor to return to the fight against terrorism, and he pledged to lead with integrity and accountability. The virulent anti-Semitism of his resignation letter makes it clear that Mr. Kent is incapable of upholding these pledges, and those who mistake its baseless and incendiary conspiracies for brave truth-telling are only fooling themselves. Isolationists and anti-Semites have no place in either party, and certainly do not deserve places of trust in our government.

@KerryBurgess Does a relatively sentient Congress realize how this sounds? That is what the history books will wonder.

Ben Shapiro says Joe Kent’s resignation letter is “conspiratorial idiocy.” Joe Kent is an 11-time combat veteran who lost his wife and many friends in Middle East wars. Shapiro, a former never-Trumper, claims that anyone critical of Trump’s war with Iran is a “coward.”

The Democrats’ decision to shut down the Department of Homeland Security has caused chaos at our airports, delayed assistance to communities affected by disasters, and forced thousands of frontline employees to work without any guarantee of when they will be paid. The United States is less safe because the Democrats chose to walk away from the bipartisan DHS funding bill and have blocked repeated Republican efforts to pass a short-term funding patch to prevent disruptions while negotiations continue. The White House made a good-faith offer last month that builds on the reforms included in the bipartisan funding bill negotiated earlier this year, with new safeguards to protect both the American public and law enforcement and increased oversight. Democrats waited 18 days to respond. In that time, we saw violent attacks at Old Dominion University and the Temple Israel Synagogue in Michigan and a massive cyber attack on the Stryker Corporation. It is time for Democrats to get serious and work with us in earnest to govern responsibly.

@LindseyGrahamSC You failed to mention that the UAE has given Trump and his family billions of dollars. Trump approved selling them 500,000 advanced AI chips--previously forbidden because of their relationship with China, their biggest trading partner.

🚨 IT'S OVER. DID YOU NOTICE IT? That split-second look she gave him? That sneer of disgust is called CONTEMPT — the #1 predictor of divorce. Once it shows up, there’s no coming back. Psychologists call it the most toxic of the “Four Horsemen.” It’s not IF for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez… It’s WHEN.

Lindsey Graham@LindseyGrahamSC

Just spoke to @POTUS about our European allies’ unwillingness to provide assets to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning, which benefits Europe far more than America. I have never heard him so angry in my life. I share that anger given what’s at stake. The arrogance of our allies to suggest that Iran with a nuclear weapon is of little concern and that military action to stop the ayatollah from acquiring a nuclear bomb is our problem not theirs is beyond offensive. The European approach to containing the ayatollah’s nuclear ambitions have proven to be a miserable failure. The repercussions of providing little assistance to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning are going to be wide and deep for Europe and America. I consider myself very forward-leaning on supporting alliances, however at a time of real testing like this, it makes me second guess the value of these alliances. I am certain I am not the only senator who feels this way.
