@TheHylian64 The Remake trilogy has been nothing but a continuous series of "how did you fuck THAT up?". You're right, this scene is iconic, and they couldn't even do it right. I swear the people making this game didn't even play it themselves.

The Meteor downgrade is absolutely insane in FFVII Revelation. The foreboding shot with the sun setting sky sold the horrifying presence of this celestial body coming to decimate the world It being first shown in FFVIIR under a bright blue sky is pathetic. It's not even that big. This should be like the OG FFVII or Majora's Mask, that menacing presence that cannot be escaped from looking at the sky, it should taint the colors as a constant reminder of the impending doom. It should be big enough to take up a significant portion of the view of the sky. Like so many other things in this trilogy, the important elements that made FFVII what it was continue to be neutered and underdelivered. Sad!

Yep and level design fell off a cliff in this genre first after random battle stopped being the norm and second after battles basically became fully optional with how passive and pushed away enemies are.

They definitely could've done FF7 in a single release had they followed the same pacing and not filled it to the brim with padding. I played the first 90 minutes of the original Final Fantasy VII. Wow, I had no idea how short the Midgar arc was in the OG. I've already met Aerith, which is like Chapter 8 in Remake and that's almost the halfway point of that game.

@HereticDelphox Squaresoft died 20 years ago. There will never be another golden era. Square Enix is just coasting off of old fumes. Now those fumes have even completely dissipated. There will be no hype for FF17.
