We started off shopping for other model cars, BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, etc. The Model Y was 60% of the price but far advanced compared to everything else. Tech on Model Y is in its own league...nothing else compares. Model Y is a joy to drive, when we feel like it. FSD is great when we don't.

We are eight months into owning/driving our Tesla Model Y. It is the best car we've ever owned. Not even close. FSD is something we didn't know we'd want until we tried it. Now it feels like a downgrade in other cars without it. We use it all the time and it is shockingly good.

@DirtyTesLa We've been using FSD extensively the past eight months and the bulk of driver interventions have been minor... stuff like "I don't want to be in the fast lane right now". Nothing that would have caused an accident.

I think FSD just isn't good enough for there to be no one in the driver seat. Maybe 14.3 will change that. But if FSD gets in an accident every 1 million miles, that's 2x better than humans... But if you put 1,000,000 Robotaxi in cities, that's 1 accident per day

The Tesla buying experience was so good compared to car dealers. Car dealerships are filled with slimy sales staff, eager to earn a commission. They pull every manipulative tactic, lie, hide fees. Loathsome businesses. Tesla was the opposite. The "sales" guy at the demo center didn't seem to care one way or another. He felt like a tech geek, excited to talk about the technology. Friendly, engaging, but completely ambivalent about making a sale. Prices were completely transparent. And of course, the tech and safety features in the Model 3 are unrivaled. Such a great experience end to end. My one complaint is that the Tesla app - which is required for purchase - had network issues and kept timing out while I was trying to do the digital paperwork. Meanwhile, text communication with the Tesla reps was slow, around a two hour response time. Room for improvement, but Tesla has reimagined everything about buying (and operating) a car. It's so much better.
