@LCreighton You've run for election several times - internal and external. Did any of your nominators not also endorse you, believe in you, think that you were a suitable candidate and want you to win?
What on earth is preventing independent Oireachtas members from nominating Maria Steen as a Presidential candidate? What are they so afraid of? Nomination is not equivalent to endorsement. Let her run. Let’s have a contest. The primary loser in a diminished field is democracy.
@john_mcguirk Rather than leave, they will claim asylum, then seek family reunification. And the State will pay for legal aid to assist their case, while the Dept pays Senior Counsel to argue against it.
This is insanity. Talk to anyone who knows Gaza and they'll tell you: People don't get exit visas from Gaza customarily unless they're thoroughly approved of by the Government of Gaza which is, and remains, Hamas, a genocidal Islamic terror group.

@SimplyUtd Innocent until proven guilty?
Should his career be ended before any charges have been raised? And career over for 4yrs while police think about it.
OK when charges raised, then it is fair to suspend him pending outcome.
🚨 Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape!
- Arsenal Football Club
- Mikel Arteta and every staff member
- Certain Arsenal fans
Anyone else that protected Thomas Partey…
YOU are a DISGRACE to HUMANITY!
@ColmCasey@danobrien20 Mostly the Greens, for pushing ideological stupidity onto people, and the people for being so stupid as to believe that we can just magically turn our backs on fossils without any interruption to supply or prices
At times as much as 83% of Ireland's electricity is generated from gas. Government has plans to ration electricity for weeks and months if anything happens to the single pipeline bringing gas from Britain.
With so many risks that cannot be mitigated, it is staggering that storage and LNG facilities have not been built to secure basic energy supply.

It’s obvious, but worth repeating: affordable housing - whether to rent or buy - won’t happen unless it’s financed and delivered on a not-for-profit basis. @morningireland
One months electricity bill for a small restaurant in Killarney,
€2000!!
Yip, there’s absolutely nothing we can do for small businesses in this country
Nothing!
@paulmurphy_TD Sure just let everyone in so and stop bothering with any immigration controls?
It's not like we have a housing crisis or shortage of school places.
Performative vice signalling by Jim O'Callaghan and government.
Deporting school kids at a cost of about €15,000 each, all just so they can try to deflect from FF/FG responsibility for the crises we face.
Shame on them.

Claire Byrne on rte insists that the ‘root’ of nursing home problems is profit. With so many abuse scandals having happened in state and religious institutions, this view is not just silly and superficial, but represents an anti business bias.
The outcome of last night's vote at the UN Security Council is deeply disappointing.
Ireland will continue to work with partners to do everything we can to address the catastrophic situation in Gaza.
@SuzanneLC3@OCallaghanJim Very important to send a message out there that deportations happen. We need to stop the Pull factors into Ireland - these folk are arriving from the UK and EU, not directly from Nigeria, so clearly something is attracting them here
35 ? Are you having a laugh here
You are spending €34.4M a week on Asylum Seeker lodgings and food which excludes weekly allowance, free medical card etc
By your own admission 70% or roughly 2/3 are Economic Migrants or Fakugees
Use this 2/3 or €23M that you are flushing away ever week to deport 35,000 per week
Then we might listen
Otherwise is a load of sh*te
Another deportation flight left Dublin last night and landed safely this morning in Lagos, Nigeria. There were 35 people on board who had received but had not complied with Deportation Orders.
@BladeoftheS True but if Tesco makes zero profit it is worthless and pension funds who own it would literally crash, pensioners would have no money. There would be anarchy.
Tesco could pay every worker an extra £10,000 and still make a profit.
British Gas could pay every worker an extra £35,000 and still make a profit.
Shell could pay every worker an extra £300,000 and still make a profit.
It is the billionaires who are ripping you off.
@MichealMartinTD We need less people with pointless arts, business, sociology and cultural degress. And more people who can do actual things such as build houses, fix a car or police the streets.
Delighted to see Ireland leading the way on education, with over 52% of adults aged 25–64 having a bachelor’s degree or higher.
Investment in education has been the key foundation stone for societal and economic development in Ireland.

This is my message to housebuilders: get on with it.
If you promise homes, you have to build them.
As part of our Plan for Change, we’re introducing penalties if you don’t build them fast enough.
