@shiv_cybersurg @chakranewz I think the question is not whether you should have a aircraft or not, the question is what can you get today asap. Our enemies will not wait for 10 years until we aquire rafale, they will infiltrate again in few years and by then we need to have dozens of options to respond.

@Ahlawat2012 A booster can propel a guided missile to Mach 1, you don’t need an aircraft for that. I am not clear why you need an aircraft to launch a missile in today’s age when target acquisition is done by satellites, awacs & drones

Every weapon system under the Sun has had its day, and then faded into irrelevance. Manned fighters too would become irrelevant- but that day is not here - yet. Missiles, drones and rockets are important, but not enough on their own. In Isolation, they can delay defeat, but not ensure victory. They are defenders weapon, if not backed by offensive air power. Despite fielding the best dronery, Ukr can not defeat Russia. Just hold them off to a messy draw. Despite significant Missiles tech, Iran can not beat USA or Israel, just delay capitulation. Harassment yes, victory no. However, when used in a judicious mix with manned airpower, it becomes a war winning combo. General sahab has an opinion, I respect it and reject it completely. If one equates Missiles fired from the surface at zero release velocity, from a static launcher : with a platform moving at 350 meters per second, with Missile release velocity close to 1 mach, - then we are not just disrespectful of a sister service , but of physics as well.

Why approach an resolve everything like a limited binary solution ? Aircrafts have their own value and missiles their own. Can missiles patrol the area, carry out long dog fights, provide consistent air cover ..no. A great mix of both, role and terrain dependent, will always be the ultimate solution.

@royan_sanju Iran is holding the world at ransom just by the sheer power of drones. , If u remember Pakistan has a substantial Air Force but it couldn’t fly from 2nd day onwards in op sindoor because unless you are USA u are substantially vulnerable. Drones give u asymmetric capabilities.

Wrote this a couple weeks back and all I recived was hate, first of all I'm a def-tech founder and this is my full time job for the past two years. And once again, no Shaheed is not a successfull weapon system and what Iran had was a utter failure with its predictions. If Iran has spent theamount of money spent on drones and ballistic missile on It's airforce buying fighters & AD in 1000s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei would have been alive by now. Saar Shaheed damage oil refinery saar so we need shaheed too saaar, China can manufacture 10x number of SAM missiles than the number of suicide drones India could ever produce. Saar Pakistan saturation attack saar, that's what we have brahmos and Nirbhay for. Increase their prodction to over 1000/ year. stokpile enough to take down every single PAK airforce stations. Shaheed is a good weapon for terrorist groups to terrorise innocent civilian population not a good military weapon. US used Tomahawk to launch strikes on Iran not LUCAS Drones. People in higher ranks of Military know things far better than 99% twitter keyboard warriors. Just don't wrongly influence stuff. Yes these toys looks fancy and I want one too but Indian Army, Navy and Airforce want much leather actual military systems. You don't design, build / buy a weapon system just because its good ! that is not how military strataegy works. Just because Iron Dome is good dosen't means India needs one. F14s were built for Carrier strike groups, the moment the case is not valid anymore they are sent out of service same goes for every other fighter story. For the past two years my job has been observing military systems and why & how it is built the way it is and that's my full time job, I'm not a random guy posting stuff after my 9-5 job, this is my daily job.
