"Knees or trees, either way you're still lynchin' me..." Powerful all the way through. Thank you @AfricanaCarr. Thank you @NickCannon. I'm listening, humbly.
Greg Carr@AfricanaCarr

Our Brother @NickCannon just returned from Minneapolis-St. Paul, where he was in the street, shoulder to shoulder with the people. His reflection here places this moment in it's necessary context: youtu.be/8BXwd_rald8 #GeorgeFloydProtests #JailbreakTheBlackUniversity

NIH is not issuing awards. You may think that it's because they it is coming up with new directions of research...The apposite is true. Here is a graph showing how many fewer new funding opportunities that NIH has posted over time. -91%, a trend that started on Jan 2025.

CD4% is more stable (useful when status uncertain, e.g. adherence over past 6-12 months uncertain, and prior CD4% is available for comparison) but isn't widely used in clinic because it's less predictive than abs CD4 (great work by Kelly Gebo) pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15247555/ [2/2]

@Dokutah_Vyew @WilliamAird4 This is where RDW is really useful. If more than one mode of MCV, RDW will increase. On the internal medicine wards, I always look at MCV and RDW. Mark Benson used to say, "any patient on the Osler service with a normal MCV has multiple hematologic abnormalities." #OslerPride

@WilliamAird4 I have a habit of checking both ferritin and b12/folate to ensure there is no combined deficiency causing a normal MCV, is this a waste of taxpayer money?

1/9 I’ve long taught a simple framework for hypoproliferative normocytic anemia that I still love: • nutritional deficiency • inflammation • organ dysfunction (kidney, liver, endocrine, marrow) Clinically useful. Memorable. Teachable. And it still holds up.

I’ve researched this topic since 2019 and during the outbreak was reporting daily using sources on the ground in Samoa. Your “infographics” can’t change facts. Key points: Measles cases in Samoa were genotyped D8 wild measles The outbreak started from an unvaccinated traveler w/ measles flying from New Zealand The UNICEF vaccine drive started AFTER the outbreak & deaths had begun & led to the outbreak ENDING Neighboring Tonga got the same vaccines w/ zero deaths There's never been a measles outbreak in human history started by a MMR vaccine None of the 83 measles deaths were fully vaccinated, almost half were too young to be vaccinated In the summer of 2019 RFK visited Samoa & met w/ anti-vaccine advocates including Edwin Tamasese & gave credibility to his views. Tamasese would later be a key mouthpiece during the outbreak trying to disrupt the vaccine campaign & RFK's endorsement played a big role in his credibility. RFK met w/ the prime minister in the summer of 2019 before the outbreak & discussed vaccines then LIED about it (recently released emails prove this.) During the outbreak his anti-vaccine group CHD published multiple articles claiming the outbreak was caused by vaccines. Many of these articles were later deleted to hide the evidence. During the outbreak RFK himself wrote a letter to the Prime Minister sharing his conspiracy theory that the outbreak was not caused by measles but by a "defective vaccine." After the outbreak and 83 deaths RFK continued to blame vaccines and not measles for the deaths. As recently as August 2024 he claimed that "nobody died from Measles in Samoa" and that all the deaths were from a vaccine (despite almost all the deaths never receiving a vaccine.) @PaulSaxMD Mystifyingly recognizable from Baltimore - amazing that these get around! Love the post, agree with the message. I will say that PWID is more relevant for me than PWUD, because the I is specific to the particular risk I'm looking for. U is vague.
