@arinewman That’s… MMF? (Marketing Market Fit) You can make a landing page that looks cool, promises all sorts of compelling features that spark curiosity, seem valuable, paper over costs and complexities for the user, emphasizes the positive emotions around the idea, etc. That’s not PMF.

I often think about @bungarsargon’s brilliant point that every time you get angry on the internet, someone is making money as a result. Reminding myself of that fact really helps me keep my equanimity.

An absurd exaggeration like this (direct quote from a real tweet) is the ticket to viral spread. But only because people want to either a) believe it, or b) shame the poster to even more culture war power they can abuse. Both these trigger-happy habits hurt. So next time you're tempted to spread or shame, stop for a second. See the lie for what it is. And reject it. Your attention — positive or negative — is your power here. Don't give it where it's not deserved. ❤️
