@mondantipode @stokdog Even if your 800t figure is right, it works out to ~3.2 gCO₂/kWh over a normal turbine life. Wind is ~11 g lifecycle. Coal is ~820. Gas is ~490. That’s not an anti-wind argument. It’s an argument for doing the math.

@stokdog This concrete monstrosity sits under every wind turbine in your once-green and pleasant province! 1,200 tonnes of concrete. 80 tonnes of steel. 800 tonnes of CO₂. That’s the same as a car driving 7 million km - or circling the Earth 120+ times! Build back… better?

Build back better. *

This photo shows 180 tonnes of steel reinforcement used at the base of a wind turbine. To complete it, approximately 800 cubic meters of concrete remain to be added. It will remain in the ground. IT'S NOT GREEN. Hit ♥️ if you think renewables are a scam

@stokdog The problem with this kind of thinking is you let “perfect” block “better” , while ignoring the full lifecycle of what you’re criticising.

Despite all the talk today of decarbonisation and Paris, Australia's biggest export to the EU - by far - remains ... COAL.

We're almost completely screwed in Australia. Our entire food supply chain depends on plentiful access to diesel. So do all our heavy industries. The regime has one option: Pick up the phone and call Russia groveling, Vladivostok has diesel. and its not far from Australia. We already purchase oil from Russian indirectly, through India (paying much more in the process) in order to satisfy our parasitic "friend" the USA. The fuel can arrive in Australia in around 15-20 days. We have about 24 days left of diesel. It will soon be too late. Will our cowardly PM do what's right for Australia, or continue to serve the parasites who are destroying this country from the inside?

Australia was partially left without gasoline, and a panic-induced rush to buy supplies began - X

@ray_waspe @ausstockchick Congrats on buying a hybrid, with all the downsides of still owning a gas car. Dumbest things.

Headlines like this just go to show this fuel crisis is by design to usher in the Climate Change UN Agenda 2030! Don’t worry about the toxic missiles being used overseas or the 1000 coal plants China has or the tonnes of minerals we are mining and exporting. It’s Australians who drive utes that’s the real problem. Who cares about people’s ability to earn an income or to transport goods or simply to travel! It’s very clear the plan is t destroy this country and the lives of everyone here!

@AvidCommentator Korea has 100m barrels of actual government reserves, fair. But the ‘6 months’ stat you’re quoting includes private refinery stock. You’re mixing categories to make it sound bigger than it is. Btw their consumption per person is pretty close to ours.

🚨🇦🇺 Meanwhile in Australia Petrol is already being sold out and everyone is already panic buying from the supermarkets. Australia is much more reliant on Middle Eastern market, not aided by the fact it’s tyrannical government are currently out of control.

@AvidCommentator ‘Double Australia’s reserves’ sounds big until you realise they’ve got double the population. Per person it’s basically the same.

@0delay1 I disagree. They have that oil on their land and no one can take that away from them. They also have sizable public reserves which account for over half of their total reserves and are equal to more than double Australia's in their own right.

@AvidCommentator They have it on their land’ 😂 mate they import 100% of it. That’s not sovereign oil, it’s stock on a shelf. Calling it ‘reserves’ is just accounting. Australia runs supply chains and offshore holdings. Stop falling for headline stats.
