I gave this random barbershop a shot in Torrance over ten years ago because I saw a sign for $8 haircuts and I just needed a trim before I had to show up to Camp Pendleton. Barber was a Korean lady. Made me hesitant but I needed the haircut and at that price it was whatever. Hair grows back and I’ll go to the right barber next time. Gave me an excellent fade. One of the best of my life when I had to keep it short. Asked her where she learned to do hair. Turns out she started out in Fullerton barbering at a Mexican place.

We’re finally on the verge, but the school district’s new proposal creates a significant barrier — requiring kids who want to take algebra in 8th grade to also take regular 8th grade math. Kids shouldn’t be required to take two math classes, which will simply force them to give up an elective. The district should avoid this barrier & let 8th graders choose to take algebra as their sole math class.

I can name several bands out of the Seattle scene better than Nirvana but is what it is. Kurt Cobain became the chosen one. In hindsight, what I liked about him the most tho is that he was very aware of his status and went out of the way to introduce to large audiences acts who never reached such levels of fame and financial gains. Always went on interviews praising the Pixies and the Melvins. Soon as they get an MTV special they cover songs by the Meat Puppets and Vaselines. I wouldn’t have wanted anybody else being the poster boy of grunge. That nigga got me into a lot of good music even if I thought Alice in Chains and Mudhoney were better.
