Grateful to share that I’ve been promoted to Professor of Medicine @IcahnMountSinai @MountSinaiHeart Titles are milestones — and their real meaning lies in people, purpose, and continued growth. For me, this “milestone” reflects the sacred privilege of caring for patients, mentoring (really learning from) trainees, collaborating with brilliant colleagues, and contributing to how we understand, prevent, and treat heart failure through a lens that honors the whole person: in body, mind & spirit. I remain deeply grateful for every mentor, sponsor, partner, and learner who has shaped/is shaping/will shape my path — and for the trust of the patients and families who remind us of the profound interconnectedness of health, humanity, and the heart. 🫀 Looking forward to continuing this work with reverence & curiosity, rooted in community. Nowadays, many trainees value work-life balance and thoughtfully weigh the added years of training and extra effort against professional and personal goals. At the same time, we all need to continue advocating for our specialty and its future.

Becoming skilled in modern PCI, including mastery of CHIP/CTO and shock care, takes more than the 1-year 250 PCI ACGME minimum. Many IC fellows also want structural skills, which extends training even more. My take is that Gen Z trainees value work-life balance and may not sign up for extra years and heavier call for only a small bump in reimbursement. Cutting IC fellowship spots might seem logical, but a smaller workforce will still face the same call burden. That is a recipe for burnout.

#MATCH Interesting data in Cardiology: General Cardiology: 292 programs filled (100%), 1,377 positions filled (100%) Interventional Cardiology: 104 programs filled (68%), 236 position filled (76.9%) I am surprised by the amount of programs unfilled in IC. Is it lack of interest or learning curve (first years) with the Match? #CardioX #Cardiology
