The most glorious celebration of French culture, history, diversity, and excellence, with the immense joy and pride to share our heritage and to welcome the World to the City of Light. Wow, just wow.

Finally watched the #OpeningCeremony I wondered why the torch went back on the Seine. And then... THEN! This unforgettable image of the cauldron! An obvious reference to the pioneers of aviation. Until I realized it went back to the exact same place, 241 years later!

Tomorrow @MatBethermin takes on his biggest athletic challenge so far: his first full Ironman! Even just to cheer and support this will be a tiring thing. It will take him probably 12h to finish the 3.8km swim, 180km cycling and the 42km of the full marathon.

The #AtLAST design study is drawing to an end. More than three years of work encapsulated into a four-day conference, summarised in a nice, all-inclusive news item: atlast.uio.no/news-and-event… And yet, a lot more is still to come. The future is bright, and not only in the submm 😁

This very moment, 1.5 million km away, the James Webb Space Telescope is doing science for me! And I got to sit in the control room as it happened, whilst we were in direct contact with the telescope! I just about managed to avoid pressing the "self destruct" button.
