@ErWendigo @HipHopGamer Video games are still very old school. When you play in VR, the seams are even more apparent. You still see NPCs eating sandwiches without biting. I'm hoping AI breaks these dated habits & we get more believable, less static worlds & interaction.

@Cdennyblog @HipHopGamer Yes, the "Uncanny Valley effect" is (I think) mainly because the disonance between "perfect visually model" and "robotic movement-animation".
For best results, superb animations are required.

Now Digital Foundry is going to have to pretend that the plastic crap on the left looks better than the screenshot on the right. It’s a collective hallucination fueled by AI hate. The hate, which I partly understand, but I'm not going to lie to myself about what looks better.

The people who think "realistic" means "better" don't understand artistic intent. They will never understand why this is bad for games. This will homogenize every title, killing actual artistic vision. This is not something we should champion. Thankfully, the majority of gamers reject this.

This whole DLSS 5 Ai Discourse in a nutshell. Max has great points here, many people people got tricked into thinking it looks good but if you look at the overall picture it actually looks like Shit, this Ai Horseshit doesn't know where the light source is supposed to be and it just makes up random features of characters. I changed my stance on this, Generative Ai on DLSS 5 is Pure Ai Slop, it's pure Horsehit. 🐎💩 #NoAi #NotInmyGames #DLSS5 🐎💩

@SubleBoom @NikTek I'm sure there will be some glitches, but if they're not egregious, it will be easy to overlook. I wouldn't pay if I were forced to have a ton of botches. If I'm watching Aliens and the background has moldy artifacts and cartoonish blemishes, it takes away from the experience.

During DLSS 5 Hands-On Video, YouTube creator Hot Hardware asked Nvidia employees this question about the computational cost of DLSS 5 when you move around in the game and it really caught my eye on how they hesitated on showing any DLSS 5 footage during motion.
Every time that he moved the character, he would turn off DLSS 5 first then move to a different in-game location and then turn it on, or if DLSS 5 was turned on the movement was very slow and controlled.
I know this is still work in progress, but it really begs the question "why wouldn't they show any this?" or "why show DLSS 5 this early?"
I tried freezing some shots when another character is in motion to check if there are any artifacts when DLSS 5 is turned on.
As suspected, I did come across some artifacts with UI elements, character popping out of the UI element and ghosting/artifacts behind the character.
Its still not the best way to judge these small details that you can clearly see if a footage is recorded in-game, but then again its not like Nvidia provided any of them during DLSS 5 marketing campaign.
Whenever this is still going to be present by the time DLSS 5 launches remains to be seen, however as of right now it doesn't look like it will handle fast-paced motion quite well and I don't know how well this "controlled AI-generated" rendering will scale to weaker GPUs in the RTX 50 series
