(they wrote the zerocash paper in 2014 and invented zk-snarks for real privacy.) zooko wilcox (the cypherpunk founder): launched zcash in 2016 and led it for years. electric coin company (ecc): the main dev team that built and scaled zcash for almost 10 years. (major governance shakeup early 2026; team mostly left). zcash foundation: non-profit that supports the protocol, funds development, and holds a big treasury (currently ~60m+). josh swihart (former ecc ceo): now running his own privacy-focused initiatives.

Stop using market cap as your entire thesis. That number doesn’t tell you if the project is actually building anything, if people care, if the team is active, or if there’s a real community behind it. Ask better questions. What are they building? Why does it matter? Who is it for? Is anyone actually using it? Does the community show up when the chart isn’t green? Can people explain it without sounding clueless? This stuff isn’t hard to figure out anymore. We have more tools, more data, and more access than ever. If you still can’t spot real opportunity in this market, stop blaming the market. You’re just not paying attention.

Ethereum and Solana have been competing chains. Now, several of the most prominent voices on both chains (Mert & Hoffman) are pivoting to #Zcash | $ZEC based on the privacy argument. Pivoting to a chain that was launched 10 years ago is interesting. There must be a good reason.
