@FT Trump needs to stop playing to local politics and finish what he started. He could use Israeli intelligence if needed. Three weeks, max, then clear out for least cost scenario... the Middle East is behind him, can lend some help re bots on the ground.

Opinion: The Iranians believe that time is on their side in this confrontation and they are probably right. ft.trib.al/v04Gxq5

@Independent Read European history/capture imprisonment of early pope. They were barely able to escape the clutches of the Vatican.

‘Not even Hitler attacked the Pope so directly’: Trump condemned for post lashing out at Leo trib.al/VgPmfFp

@TheEconomist Everything in one sentence... Iran will not relinquish Hormuz.
Trump should engage Vance to host a NATO dialogue on the way forward, out of which should yield common interests... Good luck...
English

But there is also a chance the war is about to get worse economist.com/middle-east-an…
English

@TheEconomist The Economist after all this time has learnt nothing about dictatorial regimes, terrorists, Hamas. But I may be wrong...
English

Almost a full day of negotiations between America and Iran ended with a terse three-minute press conference—and without a deal. But the failure of one summit does not mean that diplomacy is dead econ.st/4vwPi7h

@StateDept America will realize that the cease-fire is a mistake. The clerics and IRGC are a profile in criminality. They will lie and welch on any agreement to preserve their power, their way of life as authoritarians, dictators, satisfied to keep the Iranian people beneath their feet.
English

@CatoInstitute @Doug_Bandow Trump is doing NATO's job. He might not be Churchill, but success in Iran will be beneficial to America, Americans, the Middle East, the global economy, not to mention the beginning of the end of Hezbollah... To build a new world, some parts of the old one have to be torn down.
English

President Trump treats America like his personal empire—waging unnecessary wars, enriching allies and himself, ignoring Congress, and leaving civilians and global stability in ruins, says Cato’s @Doug_Bandow. This is not what the Founders envisioned.

@TheEconomist Next 10 days: Troops beach and descend on strategic locations to begin incursion into IGRC. This lasts for two weeks. Possible identification of potential leaders, release of political prisoners. Entrance of Kurds, other opposition political groups. Formation of interim o/sight.
English

Donald Trump’s politics depends on the strength that comes from winning. If he seems a loser, expect him to exact retribution. A weaker president could become a more dangerous one economist.com/leaders/2026/0…
English

@TheEconomist Intelligence seems to have been traded for speculation and shallow psychological profiling. Is it really that difficult to put the next four weeks in perspective?
In the next 10 days:
1. Kharg Island is seized and the Iran's coast on the Hormuz cleared of threats.
English

@EP_President @Europarl_EN @RobertaMetsola Ms Metsola's ivory castle is within another realm, she speaks of dialogue while death tolls rise and economies are torn up rendering future existence a punishment. While she reaches for her blunt useless tools... her keep is earned...
English

The @Europarl_EN stands with the people of Iran and condemns the regime's attacks on its own people and on civilians across the region.
We will continue to push for dialogue, respect for international law, a swift conclusion to the conflict, and the right of the Iranian people to choose their own destiny in liberty.
English

“War is not the answer.
We need a way out of this disaster.
Diplomacy is the way out.
Full respect of international law is the way out.
Peace is the way out.”
— @antonioguterres calls for an immediate end to the war in the Middle East.
un.org/sg/en/content/…

English

@UN @antonioguterres The @UN has been a complete waste of time and servant of dictators throttling their citizens. Politics aside the Iran has merit, meaning to those in Iran wanting change, which surely won't be coming from guterres & his paper UN, as other countries with similar problems languish.
English

@StateDept America should rally behind Trump and win 90 million people, or thereabouts... dictatorship is a man-made disaster that can last generations and punish a people. Sotto voce: Get Them!
English

@TheEconomist Trump threw the dice and didn't like the numbers. So he called time-out.
Surprised The Economist is caught in Trump's smoke and mirrors. They really think there are plans on winding down the war? But it's best to manufacture these analyses which preserve the narrative...
English

Israel faces the prospect that the war will end without the attainment of the main objective stated by Binyamin Netanyahu: to prepare the ground for a popular uprising that would topple the Iranian regime economist.com/middle-east-an…
English

@TheEconomist @AnshelPfeffer Both want closure on twentieth-century terrorism, but Trump has his eye on domestic politics, inflation. Hopefully Trump should remember one of America's foreign policy sthicks - Never Negotiate With Terrorists. And it would be nice to realize a democracy for 90 mn Iranians...
English

“Israel’s leaders want the war to end on their terms, not only Iran’s terms.” “The Intelligence” asks @AnshelPfeffer whether America’s and Israel’s aims are diverging. Listen now economist.com/podcasts/2026/…
English

@FT This is lacking analysis, something lacking in similar media, along investment decision makers who believe Trump... shows markets can be conned, easily misled...
English

The US president said that Washington and Tehran had reached ‘major points of agreement’, as he played up the prospects of a diplomatic end to the war in the Middle East. ft.trib.al/wnD6e1b
English

@CENTCOM USCC should also focus on neutralizing the poison that is Iran's political regime, the head of the IRGC, and the IRGC itself...
English

@FT Iran's political regime is its poison. This has to be neutralized...
