The November surprise? That there really hasn't been a huge non-campaign story (natural disaster, border crisis etc.) driving the news, which has put the spotlight on the candidates' events, personalities and behavior. It's not played to Trump's strengths.

My husband is a Trumpkin. Every four years during election season, my life becomes hell. Today he asked me what I am going to do when Trump wins. He surmised that I’ll go to Canada. I didn’t say a word. I’m praying that he is one who has trouble coping.

Early voting turnout looks phenomenal so far. The trick is to keep this energy until Election Day. All gas, no brakes.

@Angry_Staffer Another person had her shirt grabbed and opened to see the button she was wearing. (It was a gun control button, perfectly legal). Poll worker told her she would fill out her ballot for her if she wanted. “Absolutely not” Also getting some switched votes.

@Angry_Staffer Cherokee county ga - two instances - one place told a voter to take his trump hat off. He refused. Got to vote anyway with the hat on. An older couple was taken to the front of the line. He had on a trump shirt. Nothing was said.

@ParadigmGauge @dr_klassen @CarlHigbie The entire point is that a Wyoming voter’s vote is “worth more” than a California voter’s vote. That’s unamerican. Originally, this was about slave vs free states. Women were not counted, a black person was 3/5 of a person. Sure, that’s the best model! One person, one vote.

My post oversimplified the issue obviously - I thought that was intuitive. Texas and Florida and other major states would clearly weigh in. The entire point is that the electoral college recognizes state boundaries and state sovereignty, and less populated states like Wyoming disappear from the Presidential election.

Over 50% of the country lives in the yellow areas… THAT is why we have an electoral college.

Basically California and New York would control the Presidential elections. Most states would have no influence. The electoral college is a popular vote, but it's popular by state. The states elect the president of their union, and it's weighted so that all have a say. Without this system, state sovereignty would be whittled away even more, pushing us more into centralized Federal control. Opposite what our Founders intended. Make no mistake: when you hear anyone talk about eliminating the Electoral College, it is because they want big government and centralized power. That is illiberal, not liberal.
