@EODHappyCaptain I’m new to the C device game. The C device denotes the situation it was awarded for? I’m trying to make sense of a commendation medal or one with a C device. The situation is the determining factor, not the actions of the individual? A V device is situation and valor?

Young service members do some of the hardest jobs in the military, and are often the least recognized for their actions. I’m happy to see these Marines getting their awards upgraded. They deserve it. Every award given in combat during the Global War on Terror for E5 and below should be reviewed for upgrades.

Who cares if it writes better code. That’s not even an issue. Software Engineering isn’t even about code. Code is just a tool to solve engineering problems. If the code writing can be automated, we can focus far more on all the other aspects of our work. I love an AI that can write like seasoned 50 year programming veteran. That’s awesome. Let’s me solve problems with way more confidence and speed.

@phil_lyman @BigRockInsights I understand your viewpoint. I personally believe there should be some things that are off limits for non-citizens.

This bill was not a bill to let illegal immigrants become police officers. It allows non citizens who were here legally for at least five years to work in law enforcement. I regret that it was amended at the last minute to remove the word permanent and would have preferred the bill to say permanent legal resident. That amendment clearly made a difference. The initial vote was unanimous and the reconsideration and amendment moved several to vote against it. I was persuaded by the original arguments of the bill. I detest illegal immigration. I do not detest immigrants. All law enforcement officers should be evaluated on their merits. Could this law could be a way for un-American ideas to creep into law enforcement? Probably, but those ideas are more likely to come from the radical leftists who are actively working to undermine our country from within already.

Phil Lyman, Karianne Lisonbee, and Mike Kennedy are all running to represent Utah in Congress this year. In 2021, as members of the state House, all 3 of them voted to remove the requirement that police officers be US citizens. Who else are you surprised to see voted "Yes?"
