@squiggle888 @StefanMolyneux Then it wouldn’t be a theory if that was the case. We *know * that it does work, and we know exactly how it’ll affect us and when. That does not mean that we are 100% certain of how the mechanism itself works.

@StefanMolyneux This is the irritating thing - the effects of gravity is so well understood we can plan and execute a journey round the moon. We know it works. Some science is used so effectively in engineering applications that we know the theories are correct.

@IMPERATORAUS @imPenny2x The type of argument is called a causal chain and it’s valid when you have good reasons for each step along the chain but if you use causal chain arguments carelessly or without good evidence then it’s a slippery slope fallacy

Is slippery slope even a fallacy? I feel like it's a very real concept. A valid arguement in many cases.

@IMPERATORAUS @imPenny2x The problem with using the slippery slope fallacy is that, unless whatever you’re talking about has happened before, and it’s provable that one action leads to the next, every single time, then you’ve reduced your argument to speculation.

@imPenny2x Presenting the "slippery slope" as a logical fallacy is just a tactic used by moral relativists so that you concede to compromise on an objective truth. The slippery slope is reality.

Lmfao. And you’re in a position to make that judgement call? Definitely from an objective standpoint, of course! Or did the real Americans vote for him to make that call? You’ll know when? How? Are you smart enough to grasp the concepts at play here? Doubtful - you’re a Panican after all, even when you have zero skin in the game.

@aimeeterese Calling for people to have "faith" is telling enough. He's free to prove me wrong that this war isn't a monumental fuck up as it seems to be from every indication. I'll wait for that moment.

Amazing how many of you lack the capacity to fundamentally understand people or how they work, as revealed over course of Iran incursion. If you thought Trump a bumbling dumb fuck who’d bluster his way into an invasion with no idea what he was doing, why did you vote for him!??

Hot fucking take: Forcing birth just to dump a baby into adoption is way more unethical than having an abortion.

If @Caitlyn_Jenner ever ran for president, would liberals vote for him because he’s a man pretending to be a woman, which is what they are all about, or vote against him because he’s a Republican? That’s some pickle they’d be in, huh?

1) yes it does. In literally every other aspect of life, reality, you have no choice but to deal with the consequences of your actions appropriately - you don’t get to just kill a human, even if that killing would “fix” your problem. Killing humans for no reason is not, has never been, and will never be “ok”. “I need a new heart, so I’m going to kill that guy so I can get it - all fixed!” Sounds like the direction society should go. 2) there is literally no other comparable situation where you are allowed to kill a person to resolve your regret. There is literally no other comparable situation where the law allows you to kill another person to fix or change something about you or your circumstances. Don’t get me wrong - medically necessary procedures MUST continue. There is nothing that says you must die to save another’s life. I also fall on the side of rape-related abortions if there’s reasonable supporting evidence. Killing a baby just because you couldn’t keep your legs closed - hell no. It has nothing to do with controlling your body. It is preventing callous and casual murder. My body is controlled by the law because my physical actions have consequences. Morning after pill should be the limit unless one of the above is true. Until that’s the case, we are legalizing homicide. And if that’s the case, then all homicide should be legal.

@Factoiddd @penguin74us @ABmrJutt Consenting to sex isn’t consenting to months of physical risk and childbirth those are separate. The debate isn’t settled by framing it as ‘you chose it,’ especially when the law doesn’t force people to use their bodies for others in any comparable situation

Ah I see. So basically every other presidential candidate of all time, and the *vast* majority of every politician that’s ever been voted into office. Got it. Real quick, can you show me where in the constitution it says that the constitutionally provided powers of the presidency should go to someone else just because the “majority” didn’t vote for the right candidate? That’d be great. Thx.
