Xi did the great "boomer purge" of the PLA because he knows he needs forward thinking Chinese X'er and millenial officers in charge of actual operations over Taiwan. I fully expect that when the PLA goes to war over Taiwan against the US and Japan they will have a younger and more vigorous military than the US and Japan.

When PLA leadership was “purged” in the last years, people said PLA was done for and would lose the ability to fight because it lost all the “experienced” people. Truth is, it just clears the road for young guys who arguably have more actual operational experience than the older folks who didn’t have any combat experience anyway.

In recent years, China and India have maintained regular communication on boundary questions through mechanisms such as the Special Representatives (SR) and the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC). Currently, the border situation is generally stable and peaceful.
The two countries should put the boundary question at an appropriate position in bilateral relations, not allow the boundary question to define the overall China-India relations, still less let specific differences affect bilateral cooperation.
