@edfischman @igorbobic Just don’t see why we should take that chance. Kennedy, Clinton and Obama were 42, 46, 47. Let’s get back to that.

@treeaston Obama and Rubio have said a version of this. All the power is in the leadership.

Can we just reflect on what a fucking indictment this is for a second. If the only way a sitting senator—with plum committee assignments no less—feels he can achieve change is through running for president, then we really are cooked.

@daveweigel I would like you to ask them what about the Obama foreign policy they disagree with? Letting Russia take Crimea, letting Assad gas children and create a refugee crisis, power vacuum leading to the rise of ISIS, allowing China to militarize the South China Sea?

William Lawrence got left out from this for space reasons, but he's the progressive Bernie wing candidate in the race and had his own take. “There just no room for doubt about the human cost of this. People, to their credit, have been able to see through the propaganda. Palestinians are human beings, Iranians are human beings, Lebanese people are human beings, we're all human beings. It is not worth it. It is not giving us any kind of return that people can feel our experience for the senseless killing that we are participating in around the world. It's a question of our priorities, but it's also just humanitarian solidarity.” semafor.com/article/06/17/…

@daveweigel The biggest political hit Biden took was trying to appease these people with his haphazard withdrawal from Afghanistan. Are any of them taking the blame for that? It’s such a juvenile view of the world. If it were up to Biden, Gaza nor Ukraine wars would have happened.

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D.
Reagan is rolling over in his grave. Iran’s nuclear ambitions were not curbed, and they have learned that threatening the Strait of Hormuz works and will undoubtedly leverage it in the future. Now, Iran gets to build brand-new infrastructure under this deal. Before the war, the strait was open, Iran was being crushed by sanctions, and 13 service members were still alive. Now, 13 Americans are dead, families have paid billions at the pump, sanctions will be lifted, and the bombing has stopped. This is the worst foreign policy blunder in decades.

@SenBillCassidy @mindys4Biden You could have helped prevent it by voting to remove Trump when he was impeached. Much like the idiotic decision to appoint RFK, Jr, this is on you. Your legacy is a five gallon bucket of diarrhea with an American flag sticking out of it. Retire in disgrace. 🇺🇸

For the sake of every Democrat running outside deep-blue cities, arguing that people who entered the country illegally and then committed serious felonies like rape or murder should not be deported because of concerns about the criminal justice system is very dumb to say.
Astead@AsteadWH

I asked DSA congressional candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier (NY-13) about several of her previously deleted tweets, including one that read that “all deportations are wrong.” Here’s what she said:

Ossoff’s presidential prospects are soaring right now but he desperately needs Dems to win the governor’s race so it doesn’t become a “if he wins we lose a senate seat” situation.

@mattyglesias Project 2050 shouldn’t be focused on economic policy. It should be focused on structural and constitutional reforms. The “No Kings” movement should be the beginning of Democrats commitment to destroying the imperial presidency and establishing congressional supremacy.

I think I want to agree with this, but I also wonder what a Project 2020 cooked up in 1996 would have said — wouldn't we have just ended up way off the mark because the world is unpredictable?
Bharat Ramamurti@BharatRamamurti

I have no issue with Project 2029 and similar plan-generating initiatives. But as I write today, what I think Democrats really need is a Project 2050: a concerted effort to decide what we think America should look like in 2050 if we regain political power in DC. 1/

@JHWeissmann Yes but we’re also not supporting actual center left candidates. Cuomo was a massive NIMBY and anti nuclear, Karen Bass has done all she can to slow down home construction. These should not be our candidates.

After the DSA wins New York, Seattle, DC, and (potentially) the LA mayoral races, I think the center left needs to acknowledge that its infrastructure in major American cities is broken, that we are being flatly out-organized, and settling for uninspiring candidates.

❗️ The US and G7 countries will begin producing long-range missiles and air defense systems in Ukraine The landmark agreement will allow Western weapons to be manufactured in Ukraine under license, according to Le Parisien. For Kyiv, this means not just new deliveries, but the development of a large-scale domestic defense industry based on Western technologies. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that G7 partners will increase military and financial support for Ukraine while stepping up pressure on Moscow. According to him, for the first time since Donald Trump returned to power, the West has managed to reach a unified position on key security issues.
