Allegedly commuters were told that taxi fare has increased from R40 to R55, a R15 increase, which has sparked protests and tension in Kranskop, KwaNgcolosi and nearby areas, including KwaMambulu. One of the taxi drivers allegedly threatened to shoot commuters.

Ghana’s 🇬🇭 President John Dramani Mahama has declared that small-scale retail outlets such as corner shops and container stores are exclusively reserved for Ghanaian citizens to protect local livelihoods. He stressed that foreign investors are welcome in larger sectors of the economy, but small retail businesses must remain in the hands of Ghanaians in line with the country’s investment laws.

South Africa is amazing 🇿🇦. Warrant Officer Karl Sander's Back A Buddy campaign is now over R275k. The target was only R5k for his coffee machine. It's the politicians that divides the people.

Patriots, I went to Limpopo to verify their information, these people are South Africans and we need Social Development to intervene as they really need help and they are not foreign nationals.

The United States Office of the Trade Representative has PROPOSED new tariffs for 60 economies, including South Africa, related to what it describes as the failure to impose and effectively enforce a prohibition on the importation of goods produced with forced labor - calling it unreasonable and that it burdens or restricts U.S. commerce, and are thus actionable under Section 301(b) of the Trade Act. From their statement: "For economies that impose a forced labor import prohibition, that have committed to impose and enforce such a prohibition through an Agreement on Reciprocal Trade, or economies that have imposed a partial regime with the effect of preventing the importation of certain forced labor goods, the U.S. Trade Representative proposes 10% as the rate of additional duties.   For all other economies, the U.S. Trade Representative proposes 12.5% as the rate of additional duty." @conci3rge @Bronx_wrangler @ChimCham7 @sherwiebp Of course, & the Israel case at ICJ. But it’s not necessarily a bad thing for us in the long run. History shows local markets strengthen to make up for gaps. We just need to retire the current crop of politicians first.

@Bronx_wrangler @ChimCham7 @sherwiebp Unpopular opinion - I like it! Not convinced it noble of US unless all countries dealing with the problematic industries & countries would be subject to same tariffs. SA can find & develop other markets, give local industries a boost & develop refining capabilities.

Correct. The issue is that SA and other countries are not doing enough to stop the import of products from countries using forced labour. There are a few examples they highlight in their report. The most obvious one in SA relates to textiles and apparel. SA does have the regulatory framework to implement and place pressure on these countries and manufacturers. This will hurt SA and other countries exporting to the US. It will also hurt the US with higher import costs to their countries. However we need to stop the exploitation of forced labour.

@talkcentss And who is behind that growth? Immigrants. The key question would be: If all immigrants who run informal tuck shops were to get chased away, would the South African citizen step in & be able to produce the same results? If not, why? Why couldn't they do it b4 foreigners came?

Yesterday, Leon Shreiber, Minister of Home Affairs, failed to give information on how many members of parliament have dual citizenship🚮 Yesterday, Siviwe Gwarube, Minister of Education, failed to give information on how many illegal aliens are in public schools in Western Cape🚮 Disgusting. Highly incompetent. Unpatriotic. Useless. They are a danger to our democracy.
