This statement from Rory McIlroy after blowing a historic 6-shot lead, comes across as wildly arrogant & has a mentality of “one Masters championship is enough for me” Tiger Woods would never answer a question like this.

Watching Rory McIlroy in a major tournament is stressful. In exactly the same way that it was with Andy Murray. The dramatic lurches between triumph and disaster. The fine line between fragility and resilience. But absolutely captivating.

@AmosMurphy_ That is absolutely how you squander leads. If the chasing pack is catching up then you either extend the lead or squander it. That’s what he did at the Open at St Andrews. Shot only a couple of birdies on Sunday and stayed bogey-free but the Cams shot like 9 birdies and he lost.

This is a bit misleading, no? He didn’t squander anything. Rory dropped a shot from his second round score (-12 to -11). It’s testament to Cam Young and the chasing pack that the final round is as tight as it is.

After the round, he met with media before heading to the range: “Yeah, didn't quite have it today. Yeah, even just starting at the first hole with that soft bogey, even though I hit a pretty good drive. Yeah, I mean, the course was obviously gettable. There was a lot of good scores out there, and obviously the quality of the chasing pack is obvious. There was a lot of guys that shot good scores. “You know, there's a lot of guys in with a chance tomorrow. I'm still tied for the best score going into tomorrow, so I can't forget that, but I do know I'm going to have to be better if I want to have a chance to win.” “There's a long way to go. Yeah, this golf course has a way of, you know, when you're not quite feeling it, you struggle… “just need to go to the range and try to figure it out a little bit.” @McIlroyRory @TheMasters
