🚨 New Publication 🚨 Now online, the protocol of our two-phase BFR RCT embedded within a military rehabilitation centre. Big shout out to my co-authors who have facilitated this paper, and the delivery of BFR! @DMRC_ADMR bmjopen.bmj.com/content/15/5/e…

Final over. Marple CC need one run to win. Bramhall CC need five wickets. All five wickets were taken and the match was tied. Here are four of the wickets (sadly, one in unavailable.)

And here it is... footage of our #BloodFlowRestrictionExercise experiment with @SpaceX #Fram2 the first ever BFR exercise in microgravity performed by the @framonauts while orbiting the Earth in space! An important step for the development of BFR as an exercise countermeasure for spaceflight, as we demonstrate that it is possible to automatically measure limb occlusion pressure and auto-regulate target pressure to perform BFR exercise in microgravity, where astronaut's physiology and blood flow behaves differently in the absence of gravity. Huge thanks to @SpaceX for qualifying and flying the Delfi Personalised Tourniquet System for Spaceflight (PTSS) for BFR and our experiment, and to the @framonauts for completing the experiment. This is just the beginning. @NUaerospacemed @nickcaplan23 @NorthumbriaUni @NUSportEx @SpaceX @sheffhallamuni @spacegovuk @esascience @NASA_Johnson @csa_asc

Another fun (and active!) series of experiments on our @framonauts mission. Project: Efficient Exercise 💪🏻 Question: How can we a) shorten necessary exercise time and b) develop a portable device for use in space? Fun facts: - We tested blood flow restriction (BFR) training with a compact resistance device - BFR limits blood return from muscles, simulating high-load workouts using much lighter weights - This causes micro-damage in muscle tissue (similar to regular intense exercise) triggering growth and repair - In microgravity, regular exercise is essential to prevent muscle atrophy and bone density loss - Astronauts currently exercise 2+ hours a day - our goal is to reduce that without losing benefits. - The tested device is lightweight, portable, and could save valuable time and space onboard missions Institutes: Northumbria University, Sheffield Hallam University Find the full list of projects here: f2.com/research.pdf #fram2 Music creds: jiglr - Lapse

Buzzing to now announce that our #BloodFlowRestriction exercise research experiment will be launching to orbit with @SpaceX as part of the Fram2 @framonauts mission! There are many firsts...the first time exercise will be performed in outer space on @SpaceX Dragon, and the first time #BFR exercise will be performed by astronauts in outer space. This all started a few years ago with an idea that has now made it to space: asma.kglmeridian.com/view/journals/… BFR has been shown to improve exercise efficiency in ground-based studies in a manner which would be compatible with the greater constraints of exploration-class missions to space. This study marks the first in-flight research to explore the safety of BFR exercise training as an adjunct to astronaut health and performance in space, collaborating with @TMadenWilkinson and @joehandsaker Fram2 is the first human spaceflight over the Earth’s polar regions. And the first time #BloodFlowRestriction exercise, and exercise in general, will be performed on @SpaceX Dragon to investigate how #BFR exercise training can be used to optimise the efficiency of exercise countermeasures to maintain astronaut health and performance on exploration missions to the Moon and Mars 🚀 🩸🏋🏽‍♂️🧑🏽‍🚀 Watch live: spacex.com/launches/missi…

@DrJN_SportsMed If you search the word “stress” instead of “stress fracture” it highlights that word for you and brings up previous posts. Might be an issue with numerous search terms.

Is anyone else finding the search function completely useless on X? I can type in my handle + stress fracture and nothing comes up?! Slightly concerning given I'm trying to trawl back through posts to put e-book together.
