5 years ago, 10 Coloradans lost their lives in the King Soopers shooting in Boulder. No one should have to fear for their lives while going to the grocery store, a movie theatre, or school. Unfortunately, tragedies like this have become far too common in our state and country.
But this is a reality none of us should accept. Our kids deserve a world where their lives matter more than guns.

A gunman opened fire at King Soopers in Boulder, Colorado—a grocery store not too different from the one I was shot in front of. No community should ever know this pain. Today and always, my heart is with the victims’ families and the Boulder community.
