I enjoyed visiting with seniors at Brookdale Senior Living to discuss their concerns with Trump’s attacks on the benefits so many people in our community rely on. Our seniors paid into a system their entire life to ensure they would be able to retire with dignity, but all of that is at stake. But what I heard most of all was their concern for the world their grandkids would grow up in where regular people will no longer have the chance to get ahead.

This little girl, just six years old, should be playing, learning, and enjoying being a kid. Instead, she's locked behind bars in an ICE detention center because of Trump's immigration crackdown. My own son, Davis, is also six years old. I cannot imagine the heartbreak her family must be feeling. It's heartbreaking & it's shameful. This is not who we are as a country.

TSA officers are being forced to work without a paycheck because Republicans would rather let ICE continue to terrorize us than work with Democrats to ensure we bring transparency & accountability and fund DHS. The result? Hours-long security lines at airports across the country, and mayhem for travelers. If Republicans won't work with us, they should at least join me in supporting legislation to ensure these essential workers are paid in the meantime.

Trump's FCC Chairman @BrendanCarrFCC is threatening media outlets — cover the Iran war our way, or lose your license. Why? Because the truth is that they know the American people don’t want another endless war in the Middle East. This is authoritarian behavior.

Broadcasters that are running hoaxes and news distortions - also known as the fake news - have a chance now to correct course before their license renewals come up. The law is clear. Broadcasters must operate in the public interest, and they will lose their licenses if they do not. And frankly, changing course is in their own business interests since trust in legacy media has now fallen to an all time low of just 9% and are ratings disasters. The American people have subsidized broadcasters to the tune of billions of dollars by providing free access to the nation’s airwaves. It is very important to bring trust back into media, which has earned itself the label of fake news. When a political candidate is able to win a landslide election victory after in the face of hoaxes and distortions, there is something very wrong. It means the public has lost faith and confidence in the media. And we can’t allow that to happen. Time for change!
