The most revelatory insight in the ITV piece: the full version of the suppressed national security assessment says nature-damage will have cost 12% of GDP by 2030 relative to what could have been… A devastating revelation, re a Govt that’s trashing nature, & is obsessed with GDP-growth!

Isn’t it time we had a plan, just in case things do go catastrophically wrong? Our new report “We Need a Plan B” by Theo Cox, Liam Kavanagh and @GreenRupertRead argues that waiting to win climate debates risks leaving us dangerously unprepared. Read here: drive.google.com/file/d/1ID32Fo…

The true life story of the brilliant @CleanIlkley and their experience with Sir James Bevan then CEO of the Environment Agency. "Just like Ash and Peter in Dirty Business, we poured over spreadsheets of data, tested our water with the support of our Town Council, and wrote hundreds of letters. We went to see James Bevan at the EA, the appointment secured under threat (from John Grogan our MP at the time) of being called to the Select Committee if he didnt. He agreed the data was awful and action had to be taken quickly - and then he ignored us." ilkleychat.co.uk/post/ilkley-ca…

A classified UK national security assessment warns biodiversity loss is a security threat, not just an environmental issue. GDP, food supply, migration, pandemics and geopolitical stability are all at risk. Key findings below⬇️ Watch the ITV News broadcast & read the report.

@GlassJet @meadwaj Actually we don't know what the counter-factual would have been... a lot of what has happened in the last several months is a lot the result of Your Party imploding - a counter-factual to consider is where the polls would be if they hadn't have done - & of Lab's utter sh•teness.

I’ve been saying consistently for two years, ie since >before< the last general election, that the imminent future of British politics is Greens vs Reform. See e.g bright-green.org/2024/06/19/the… . When I first started saying this, I was mocked for doing so. They aren’t mocking now…:

I can't count how very many times over the past year I've heard good people say despairingly, "Farage is bound to be the next Prime Minister". Every single time I have pushed back, hard, against such foolish fatalism. This morning's unheard-of (and massive) by-election victory for the Greens was a massive, MASSIVE piece of evidence in favour of what has >for the last three years< consistently been my view: that the 2029 General Election is simply wide open, ...and that it is most likely to be most hotly contested >by the Green Party and Reform UK<. The two old parties are in absolutely desperate - and potentially terminal - trouble; they are going to perform so abysmally in May that not only will Starmer be gone (but they literally have no-one strong to replace him with) but Badenoch may be gone as well before the year is out. This by-election was the most important of our lifetimes, I would claim. It is now game-on nationally. The Green Party membership is about to explode again; it will receive a surge in donations that enables it to start to compete really seriously with the other, billionaire-bankrolled parties. I predict confidently that very soon the Green Party and Reform will be 1st and 2nd (though not necessarily in that order!) in opinion polls. As I've been saying for the last three years, the real opposition within the future of British politics is hashtag#GreensVsReform. None of this should be taken breathlessly to imply that all is well with the Green Party. It is not. The Party will now face much greater scrutiny: of its internal rivenness, of its dangerously ideological commitment to a wacky form of identity politics, of some of its culture-war rhetoric, of its insufficient policies/emphasis/honesty on the great and terrible challenge of climate-adaptation, of its lack of any planning as yet for how it would cope with hostile bond markets etc if it actually got into power... but what is exciting about the last question in particular is that for the first time it is now as feasible as it is vital to ASK the question: How should Greens best prepare for a role in GOVERNMENT. For as of today, it is suddenly clear to everyone that Farage is no shoe-in as the next PM. The next PM could very well be Polanski (or even Hannah the plumber?: she's brilliant), leading a minority or coalition Govt...

🚨Suppressed report from the joint intelligence committee reported on by @ITVNews about the impact of climate change and the degradation of nature. The security services warn of mass mortality events from anthrax being released into the environment as permafrost melts, financial collapse worse than double the 2008 financial crisis, nuclear war, political extremism, food shortages and more. This has been suppressed by @keirstarmer and @uklabour Please share. @piersmorgan @JohnSimpsonNews @OborneTweets @Emmabarnett @vicderbyshire @mrjamesob @JeremyClarkson @TomSwarbrick1 @ShelaghFogarty @susannareid100 @NeilThompson62 @afneil @JuliaHB1 @MartinDaubney @PatrickChristys @MichelleDewbs @MickBooker @essexpr @TVNaga01 @kayeadams @janem @maddow @rickedwards1 @SuellaBraverman @richardpbacon @TiceRichard @alexberesfordTV @TomTugendhat @jonsopel @maitlis @tombradby @WilfredFrost @CliveMyrieBBC @SophyRidgeSky @MrNickKnowles @bbcvickiyoung @KamaliMelbourne @elashton @BBCsarahsmith @guy_lynn @esmewren @adamboultonTABB @BenKentish @RobertJenrick @DavidDavisMP @theresa_may #labour #greens #GortonDentonByElection #reform #RestoreBritain

BREAKING: The insight in this ITV piece that is most politically revelatory IMO is that the full version of the report says that nature-damage could end up costing approximately 12% of GDP by 2030 relative to what there could have been without that damage…This is a devastating revelation, in relation to a Government that is trashing nature, and is obsessed with GDP-growth!! In my view, this is most likely why the Govt still tries to suppress the full version. youtube.com/watch?v=59DZiP…

Famous leftist hippies J P Morgan (!) warned in a report 6 years ago that the damage to the environment is so bad it may mean the end of the human race. "Although precise predictions are not possible, it is clear that the earth is on an unsustainable trajectory. Something will have to change at some point if the human race is going to survive."
