I'm glad this is being addressed. This happened in the Rust cases numerous times. The trial judge rarely addressed the SP's errors. Sometimes LYK called it out. Runkle not so much. Not a dig, I'm a big Runkle fan! These issues unfortunately get varying degrees of attention depending on the defendant.

I just wrapped up an interview with Juror #3 from the Kouri Richins trial. Christie knew nothing about the case and had never heard of Kouri before being asked to serve on the jury. Christie was very candid during our conversation. She shared with me the one piece of evidence that really stuck out to her, the witness who made a big difference (it wasn't who I was expecting), her thoughts on the defense, the prosecution, the judge, the moment that shocked her the most and behind-the-scenes details about verdict deliberations. We'll be posting my entire 60-minute unedited interview with Christie Friday morning at 8 a.m. MDT on the East Idaho News YouTube channel.

Before anyone attacks my credentials or not sharing my name - I have a young child. I gave up a career in prosecution after my life was threatened on several occasions. My family has been threatened. That's why I don't share my name. Please respect that.

@OldMerIsDead @RustTrial The sad thing is that people who don't know better drain their purse and spend their time thinking they are getting high-level legal analysis. Whereas, this is equivalent to a rising conspiratorial-minded 3L who is in the top 45% of her class.

I used to be ok with Melanie Little to a degree but man she was twisting and reaching today. She was acting like Judge Belezos' order denying the motion to DQ Cosgrove was complicated. Why is she so confused?

The perjury charge is in Middlesex Co. The manslaughter charge is in Worcester - arraignment for that one is April 2.

@AndersWeinstein Thank you for sharing. I remember discussing this as we're both fans of Volokh. In reviewing the DA's early unethical tv interviews she admits that spent casings found on BCR were from another film set nine months earlier. 14 months later she pivots to Baldwin should have known.

Major NM legal news! Today the NM Supreme Court, in NM v. Ward, officially clarified the requisite mens rea for involuntary manslaughter. The Supreme Court overruled their prior requirement of crim negligence. Recklessness is now the bar. The opinion orders the UJI Committee draft a new uniform jury instruction reflecting the new mens rea standard.

*Note dates might be bumped up at the next status hearing. Per the 3/10 hearing these dates provide quite a bit of wiggle room. Rust followers - Judge Mary NEVER had an order like this for Hannah Gutierrez. Baldwin? Yes. HG? No.

What ML scrolled over. This is the MTD of the detective, improperly named in LG's counterclaim, granted by the judge. Similar arguments apply to Cosgrove. Case is dead.

The other thing I don’t get… she says Lindsey’s lawsuit against Cosgrove is still valid. Does she not realize she’s suing him for releasing an “unredacted SA report”, with that TB being accused of SA. Cosgrove has nothing to do with her phone extract release, which is another story. Cosgrove is solely being sued about the release of that report. If the allegations of SA are false, which I assume Melanie believes, how can Cosgrove be sued for releasing a report of fake SA?
