The #M48 #SevernCrossing is now OPEN westbound between J1 (#Aust) and J2 (#Chepstow). The J2 exit slip road however remains closed at this time whilst emergency services continue to work at the scene. Allow extra time if travelling in the area this afternoon.

This weekend we were involved in the replacement of Lydney Town level crossing. My part today was working with a team of guys to walk the replacement rails from Lydney junction up to Lydney Town ready for tomorrow.. #deanforestrailway

@STAdoublelARD @2SevernBridges They do with the up and over at the Aust and Chepstow junctions, they close it to high sided vehicles, they reduce the speed limit to 40mph and shut one of the lanes each way

@Mav_Lox @2SevernBridges There will usually be one side left open during high winds, normally the side which is more exposed to the wind, so I’d expect it to be the south side open

@campbellbri @2SevernBridges They usually close the opposite footpath which is exposed to the wind (they’d rather you get blown into the road then off the side I guess). I’ve cycled across it many times in high winds, it’s an experience. Hold onto your contact lenses!

@ditslexicman @GlosRoads I wish more council in Gloucestershire would embrace a safer cycling infrastructure approach. I know too many people who are reluctant to replace car journeys with bicycle journeys because the roads in the Forest of Dean are far too dangerous
