@DavidSHolz Yes, meeting people and your work experiences and interests rapidly make you unusual - if you meet the right people, which usually means unusual people.

@SatoshiEntropy it's true but there are also many other factors besides skill and luck, like how many people you really meet

a lot of smart people ask me "whys no one else like me?" and i say "well if you're top 95th percentile in like 4 things, that makes you one in 1/0.05^4=160,000 ". then not everyone has your luck, so you can find yourself as one-in-a-million more easily than you'd think

@WesterWolfgang But if you had hacked 80k Bitcoin would you really leave them in eight addresses for 14 years? Why not confuse the trail by putting them through, say, MtGox. And perhaps LightRider is making up the story to find out who owned the 80K.

+++ There is new evidence that the 80k BTC wallets from 2011 could have originated from the myBitcoin hack and that ArtForz is a major victim and has lost many coins +++

@WesterWolfgang Just to be clear, someone transferred small amounts in using op_return to send messages pretending to have the accounts under their control (as Salomon Bros?) and the real owner then panicked and sent the Bitcoin to new addresses?

A sort of initial timeline to get an overview of what happened. It doesn't look good for the owner, whoever that may be.

@Crypto_Mags And 20 shillings to a pound. But just pricing things in pounds would have been too easy, so they were often priced in guineas = 21 shillings.

We're thrilled to announce that @kurtwuckertjr will be narrating our forthcoming books on Craig Wright's decade-long Satoshi scam. He was our first choice, so we're delighted to have secured his services. Can't wait to hear the results!

@WesterWolfgang @pete_rizzo_ Absolutely! I found the source before in some fringe blog. I am not sure if the AHA (Austin Hackers Association) existed, but they certainly didn't mine 400,000 Bitcoins (apart from Druid) and even if they had it would be ridiculous to list their total three times.

@Arthur_van_Pelt I think Satoshi never talked about self-custody because he took it for granted. The idea of a Bitcoin exchange only came from Malmi and others towards the end of 2009. Even then, I doubt Satoshi ever thought people would want to hold their Bitcoin on an exchange.

Unpopular take becoming mainstream: Satoshi Nakamoto never said anything about sovereignty in custody of Bitcoin. He only rejected trusted middlemen in minting of and transacting with bitcoin, hence separation of money and state. Custody of funds is a user choice meanwhile.

@FractalEncrypt I think the second reference was the starting point as it references 3,4,5 and would have originally stood at the head of Satoshi's references before he heard about Dai. It is a paper presented at an obscure conference in Belgium, the Symposium on Inf. Theory in the Benelux.

I began doing some research on this chart for a sculpture and ended up blowing my mind a few times. Did you know that all John Nash's math in the movie "It's A Beautiful Mind" was handwritten by one of the authors referenced in the Bitcoin Whitepaper? I found a lot more too, wanna dig into some obscure Bitcoin history? Let's go!

Bitcoin wasn’t the first attempt at a digital currency. It was the last one. The one - finally - that worked.

@pete_rizzo_ A bit of additional information. The origin goes to the address 1933phfhK3ZgFQNLGSDXvqCn32k2buXY8a. You could ask Google. It's a famous address. And take a closer look at the fees. Maybe you'll figure out what it is.

@Arthur_van_Pelt @BtcLiberty If all property transactions took place in Bitcoin, then it would undoubtedly increase the demand for Bitcoin somewhat. But only to provide liquidity for transactions, not to cover the value of all property.

@MayaPar25 @DSBatten @frankcorva @jordanurbs @WalkerAmerica The moment Satoshi capped Bitcoin to a scarcity of 21 million units, NgU was build in. To become people's everyday cash to save and as means of exchange, Bitcoin has to swallow all value on earth first. Unfortunately but unavoidable, that works best and fastest when large...

@Arthur_van_Pelt @BtcLiberty I think I do. Suppose you had a house valued at 1 million dollars. You do not have a million dollars, you have a house. Now call it 10 Bitcoin instead. You do not have 10 Bitcoin you have a house. The price of Bitcoin would not change because you value it in Bitcoin.

@BtcLiberty If you take everything on earth currently represented in a monetary value, you get to a number around $2,000 trillion. Divide that by 21 million and you get eerily close to a unit price of Bitcoin of $100 million. That is, if the USD still exists at that time, which is unlikely.
