Having watched him every minute this season, he's 100% worth the value paid for him. Every time he receives the ball he's able to control and also play intelligent passes. I would say he's been hampered by the team who don't get close enough to him when attacking, which is why he's now been moved further back to ensure when he does get it he's got options and with Gordon ahead it fits Howes style of having a quick release forward. If he wants Woltemade to succeed as a #9 then he needs to change the mind set of Newcastle and have possibly slower more controlled build up play vs. the quick/counter attack team that he currently has

I haven’t watched every Newcastle game that Nick Woltemade has played, but he was always at his best for Stuttgart when the gaps to his attacking teammates weren’t too big. He’s great when there’s a lot of activity around him and perhaps that hasn’t always been the case in England.
