@IanECox More Afrcan countries need to harness local talents. There are a lot of resourceful and talented individuals with potential. Cyber can be a very good and cost-effective force multiplier.

AI is transforming how nations predict and prevent threats. By analyzing patterns in crime, cyberattacks, and border activities, AI can help security agencies act before incidents occur. The NIRU AI Hackathon is showcasing 60 MVPs exploring these predictive capabilities, proving that Kenya is building solutions to stay ahead of threats while fostering local innovation. The future of national security is proactive; and it’s being built here. #NIRUAIHackathon #NIRUAI

Two sides of Rwanda in Mozambique: Rwanda’s entry into Mozambique, initially under the pretext of bringing peace to the continent and the country, was one of the best things to happen, as it helped immensely in reducing attacks in Cabo Delgado, particularly in 2022, when we were

@wilkerDias13 1. When Rwandan Forces intervened in Cabo Delgado in 2021, the whole province was under the occupation of IS-Mozambique. 2. Rwandan forces liberated the occupied districts, the refugees returned home, schools re-opened and the residents can now go about their usual activities.

@IanECox Very few sub Saharan countries possess a true 'SOF' capability. With SA, Botswana, Zim having a pedigree and even Lesotho starting to develop a modest capability.

Rwanda has agreed to a step-by-step withdrawal of its soldiers from several areas in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Step 1: Rwanda will withdraw all its troops up to Goma. Step 2: Congo will neutralize and repatriate the FDLR to Rwanda. Step 3: Rwanda will fully withdraw from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. If either side fails to comply, the United States will impose sanctions on the party that does not fulfill its obligations. This time, if Paul Kagame does not withdraw, it could have serious consequences for Rwanda’s economy.

@QaanitahHunter SADC, and particularly the SANDF, decided they achieved their objectives in Cabo Delgado back in 2024, and withdrew. Ultimately, the deployment was hamstrung by the Mozambique government, and didn't achieve much

MAJOR TERROR ATTACK FOILED! Plans by the terrorist group Al-Shabaab to kill many Kenyans in Nairobi have once again been foiled by the intelligence agency. Months of surveillance and covert intelligence gathering on a terror network operating within the Dadaab refugee camps led to the recovery of arms and ammunition including 600 bullets, pistols, grenades, explosives, and drugs all destined for targets in Nairobi. The terrorists, who had planned to carry out the attack during the month of Ramadhan, were also exploring possibilities of kidnapping foreigners and hijacking vehicles. Nairobi remains safe because of the brave young men and women in our security agencies who spend long hours tracking down dangerous terrorists and criminals. #ActionCountersTerrorism @NCTC_Kenya @RAbdiAnalyst

Defense News Nigeria@DefenseNigeria·
The dreaded 72 Mobile Strike Force was a strike force with its own organic air support, intelligence, communications, logistics, and other relevant combat support elements. They received training from STTEP, a firm made up of South African military veterans and led by Eeben Barlow. In December 2014, STTEP was contracted by the Nigerian government. Their mission was to train a mobile strike force to rescue the Chibok school girls kidnapped by Boko Haram. STTEP trained the Nigerian strike force in mounted and dismounted tactics with an emphasis on operational flexibility. This included tactics, techniques, and procedures that they had practiced and refined on the battlefield since South Africa’s conflicts in the 1980s, including Barlow’s concept of relentless pursuit.

The sheer scale of this is unbelievable - 10,000 KM2 of Mozambican land is flooded, an area the size of Lebanon or Cyprus. Homes, farmland and hospitals are now underwater. Hundreds of thousands of people impacted. This is the reality of climate change.

Miles and miles of Mozambique is underwater, flooded by rainfall as climate change batters the coastal country. People in villages cut off by the floods are surviving from food dropped by helicopter and diseases are spreading quickly, reports Sky's @YousraElbagir.

Commander @mkainerugaba has crossed a red line and now the U.S. must reevaluate its security partnership, which includes sanctions, and military cooperation with Uganda. The president's son, and likely successor, cannot just delete tweets and issue hollow apologies. The U.S. will not tolerate this level of instability and recklessness when American personnel, U.S. interests, and innocent lives in the region are at stake.
Daily Monitor@DailyMonitor

Uganda's Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has deleted earlier posts he made on X, accusing the @USAmbUganda administration in Kampala of aiding Bobi Wine's escape. Gen @mkainerugaba, who is also President @KagutaMuseveni's son and a Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, said he "was being fed with wrong information. I have spoken with the US Ambassador to our country and everything is okay. We are going to continue our military cooperation as usual." bit.ly/3ZaY8sj #MonitorUpdates
