@robprogressive That 45% number annoyed me. We also pay National Insurance, and employers national insurance (which make no mistake, is coming out of the employees end really). The real tax rate is more like 70%. Leaving the UK was the best financial decision I ever made.

I left the gym for 1-2 weeks and returned. Suddenly I can lift 5-10 kgs heavier. How? What's the science behind this? I thought I'd lose strength.

@big_duca People seem to miss that a lot of SaaS has been replaceable with a well made google form or excel sheet for decades, but people still chose the SaaS. Most people would sooner spend company money than take on personal responsibility and effort. I don’t see that changing.

There’s a ton of arbitrage in just ignoring consensus takes. There is a consensus take that software is dead. IDK how many times I see people one shotted by this on X. I have not seen this at all personally. The only place this may be true is if your customers are high agency builders. And they specifically rather rebuild commodities vs differentiated products. Which is very few people.

@HaritanItay This is such a refreshingly sane take. A huge number of SaaS products have been replacable by a well designed google form or excel sheet for years. Almost nobody did it. Normal people aren’t going to vibe code all their tools, they’d still sooner pay a subscription.

I disagree. The average merchant is not vibe coding anything. You could replace many apps with a one-time dev job since forever. Merchants are busy people with many problems, if your app solves one of them, they will pay. Yes, the tech-savvy ones will vibe code, but this is still far from being a common thing.
PJ Celis@celispj

Shopify app prices will be vibe coded down to their marginal cost. You can still charge a token amount (like @judgeme's 15 USD / month) to take care of an entire product category but good luck to those with a venture backed enterprise Saas model.

@theo AI is a babysitter who is Mary Poppins 99 times, but then randomly throws your child off the balcony. You pick it because it’s amazing most of the time, but after that first catastrophic failure, you go back to the human who is just dependably disappointing.

The people who hate remote work are the people who have no life outside of work and are the worst type people to be around. There’s nothing wrong with loving your job but most corporate jobs can be done at home. Please go find a hobby if you need to socialize.

🚨 IT GETS WORSE: One of the men charged after a woman was thrown off a bridge to her death reportedly posted a video years earlier from the same bridge titled, “Disposing of a body.” The three suspects face between 6 and 30 years in prison.

What sucks is that life could be so easy. So easy. There are enough resources to end world hunger, homelessness, and poverty. We could slow down and fairly utilize and distribute them. Instead, everyone suffers while 20 men control half the world’s wealth.

@d0wnsideofme Ffs!! He literally does not take the money from anyone! There isn’t a limited pool of money we all have to share. If a farmer grows 1 trillion potatoes, he doesn’t take them from anyone - there are just more potatoes. Elon creates MORE money. He isn’t taking it from anyone.

who’s money do you think a trillionaire is taking? no one’s? not only that, the snap receipient instantly puts that money back into the local economy whereas elon musk hides the majority of his wealth in tax safe hideouts so the average person gets poorer and poorer not only that, but are you paying him via all the tax dollars his company takes in
Random HVAC Guy 🇺🇸@RandomHvacGuy

Well, the trillionaire uses his own money while the snap recipient uses mine.

@pgklee @LesNessman1500 @travelingflying The frustrating thing is people hear that and think you are saying that women are inherently worse referees, and no amount of logic or explaining seems to make them understand. If you restrict the pool of options based on irrelevant criteria, the standard drops.

International women’s soccer. To referee international matches, you need to be a FIFA referee. Males significantly (at least tenfold) outnumber female referees. Both women and men can referee men’s matches, but only women can referee women’s matches. Women’s matches not surprisingly have suboptimal refereeing.

@LesNessman1500 @travelingflying It has nothing to do with race. If you introduce a criteria that isn’t related to the task - skin, gender, or hat - the end result will be worse. The minimum requirement being the same doesn’t change that. You are lowering the ceiling, not the floor.

@LesNessman1500 @travelingflying Sigh…You are picking a team. The minimum standard to be considered is 1 year of experience. You have 100 people to pick from. 5 are wearing a red hat. You must pick at least 1 person in a red hat. Result: standards not lowered, but the team is very likely weaker anyway.
