@JohnKennyMedia @RTEsport They were saying on RTE that the draw is taking place on Thursday?
English

If you’re interested (bet you are) the World Cup European play-offs take place between 26 & 31 March next year - straight semi-final and final. The tournament draw takes place on Friday 5 December @RTEsport
English

@boscofoley @VirginMediaNews I'm not sure. It's frustrating that she can't.
Not sure why your query is regarding Catherine Connolly though. If you look back on my tweet again, you'll see it was exclusively focusing on and commenting on Colette Fitzpatrick's interviewing technique.
English

@colmhanratty @VirginMediaNews Why cant she answer a question straight, Colm?
English

This interview is a bad look for @VirginMediaNews. It’s like the brief to Colette Fitzpatrick was three words long - ‘Take her down.’ Nothing about policy or looking forward. 30 minutes discussing accusations. Dreadful stuff. #TheBigInterview
English

@margotkenny @VirginMediaNews To gloss over her decisions in the past would be naive. That's not what I said. I just thought maybe some of the interview could've been more general.
English

@colmhanratty @VirginMediaNews Yes let’s just gloss over all her poor decisions in the past, because past performance is no indication of what she’s likely to do in the future is it?
English

@Justinhead1982 @VirginMediaNews Quite the opposite in fact. If you read my tweet again you'll see it was exclusively focusing on Colette Fitzpatrick and how she was interviewing - nothing to do with Catherine Connolly.
Tip - don't assume 😉
English

@colmhanratty @VirginMediaNews Colm while Connolly was getting quized about her disgusting tankie past 👇😂

English

@treacy_phil @VirginMediaNews I would think spending almost the entire interview going through accusations and little to nothing spent on general questions is trying to take her down. You're right though - 30 minutes dodging questions does say it all.
My tweet was exclusively about interviewing... not CC!
English

@colmhanratty @VirginMediaNews Asking legitimate questions is not the same as “take her down”. Spending 30 minutes avoiding giving a straight answer says a lot.
English

@micrabam @VirginMediaNews Correct - voters are entitled to know the details. And Colette Fitzpatrick was right to ask them. But to spend the entire interview just going through accusations was poor journalism IMO. Could've had one or two more general questions.
English

@colmhanratty @VirginMediaNews Not a bad look at all. The voters are entitled to know detail about who will be on the ballot. Very important to know who they associate with too
English

@Kildareman2 @VirginMediaNews Depends on what context you're using the word 'policy'.
English

@colmhanratty @VirginMediaNews Policy in relation to what? The President has nothing to do with national policy.
English

@PlayerMUFC @VirginMediaNews Couldn't agree more! Which is why I think the questions needed to be asked. But maybe 50%/60% of questions could've been a grilling. Could've been one or two more general questions there also.
English

@colmhanratty @VirginMediaNews Is actually important to see how a person running for president responds to adversity, how they respond to tough questions etc.
It's the highest office representing the country, a candidate's character, history and opinions are hugely important.
English

@gracemarylaura @VirginMediaNews I agree - it is important. And I agree that she deflects. But at least have something general like 'Why should you be president?' .
English

@colmhanratty @VirginMediaNews It's important we have answers to these questions, which she tries to avoid. She seems to want to disown her extreme left policies & statements.
English

@HughGillanders @VirginMediaNews Agreed - she doesn't answer questions. But at least ask something like 'Why should the people of Ireland vote for you?'
English

@colmhanratty @VirginMediaNews She was asking legitimate questions but getting no answers- questions hang.
All she needs to do is answer the question- it looks like being evasion.
English

@Dubliner112 @Talktimefor2021 @VirginMediaNews Yes, you could look at it that way. But it's looking backwards rather than forwards. Just think the interview could've done with a question like 'Why should the people of Ireland vote for you?' or 'Why should you be president?' Don't remember questions like that being asked.
English

@colmhanratty @Talktimefor2021 @VirginMediaNews "Catherine Connolly doesn’t answer questions straight & continually deflects. It’s extremely frustrating" that's exactly the point.
The questions she deflects from are decisions/policies she has applied in her life. They need to be answered to see future policies.
Just answer.
English

@Kildareman2 @Talktimefor2021 @VirginMediaNews I would think it could've been more of a 50/50. 50% grilling, 50% of 'Why should you be president?'. There was zero of the latter.
English

@colmhanratty @Talktimefor2021 @VirginMediaNews On the contrary, it exactly means the interviewer should attempt to pin her down if she deflects & pivots away from a question. Too often Irish politicians are let away with that by the media. We just aren't used to seeing them being held to account properly.
Proper interviewer.
English

@colmhanratty @NornEye @VirginMediaNews @catherinegalway The interviewee is the person being interviewed.
English

@Talktimefor2021 @VirginMediaNews I agree - Catherine Connolly doesn’t answer questions straight & continually deflects. It’s extremely frustrating. Doesn’t mean the interviewee should spend the entire 30 mins going over accusations though. She could’ve given at least some time to policies etc. #thebiginterview
English

@colmhanratty @VirginMediaNews Great interview - she was asked straight questions ....has consistently refused to answer them- deflects & dodges. About time an interviewer followed up when she didn't answer it was same on RTE yesterday. When CC is put under pressure to answer she can't or won't.
English

@NornEye @VirginMediaNews @catherinegalway She did ok, but the focal point of the interview became the interviewee (Colette Fitzpatrick) and how bad she conducted the interview.
English

@colmhanratty @VirginMediaNews I don’t have access to it, but I assume from your post @catherinegalway did not do too well?
English

@ClippyXmark @BernieRoche9 @VirginMediaNews I disagree. I would’ve liked to have seen some balance. Maybe 50% grilling, 50% looking into the future. That interview was just a one-person witch hunt. Worst thing I’ve seen on TV in years.
English

@colmhanratty @BernieRoche9 @VirginMediaNews You can say that if you want, but then if she didn’t ask difficult questions or press her you would have said it was too easy and had no journalistic integrity. Can’t win
English

@colmhanratty @VirginMediaNews I wonder what the interview with Heather be like
English

@irl_aoife @VirginMediaNews Yep - was nothing to do with what she might do as president. Poor reflection on standards of journalism in @VirginMediaNews.
English

@colmhanratty @VirginMediaNews Expected Collette Fitzpatrick to do a better job. Very disappointing
English

@emma_o_b @VirginMediaNews I reckon this interview will have the opposite effect that (what looks like) Colette Fitzpatrick is hoping.
English

@colmhanratty @VirginMediaNews Totally agree! She will win no doubt! Was well able for all of them stupid questions
English
