@ontimesam @DrOaikhena The LEADER Nigeria NEEDS is one that can BUILD STRONG INSTITUTIONS. The key character of that leader is that he is SUBJECT to the LAW & RESPECTS other AUTHORITY. He seeks to PERSUADE rather than ILLEGALLY COERCE. He will allow Judiciary, Police, the Press, etc. do their JOBS.

ROSEMARY ATOO: THE RUGGED FEMALE ECOMOG SOLDIER In Sierra Leone, during a time of turmoil, Nigerian soldier Rosemary Atoo Joseph served under Abacha’s ECOMOG command, one of the few women in the force. She joined the Nigerian Army in 1993 and quickly found herself in a challenging mission where even seasoned male officers feared to tread. During an ambush, Rosemary was captured by rebels. However, after learning she was Nigerian—part of a respected force—their attitude changed. Instead of executing her, they escorted her back to town, allowing her to gather supplies for her unit before returning safely to base. Her bravery, faith, and composure turned her into a legend among her peers. To this day, she declares, “If I come back to this world, I’ll still be a soldier.”

Let us reflect, sincerely and without sentiment. In the past few days, the President has reportedly approved ₦3.3 trillion as a “full and final” payment for debts in the power sector. Yet, this is not the first time such approvals have been made. On May 17, 2024, ₦3.3 trillion was approved for the same purpose. On July 25, 2024, another ₦4 trillion bond was approved to settle similar debts. There have also been other approvals in between, all targeted at addressing the same power sector liabilities. This raises a fundamental question: were the previous approvals mere announcements without execution? ₦3.3 Trillion Again? Nigeria’s Power Crisis Without End During the 2023 campaign, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made a clear promise: that if he failed to deliver stable electricity, Nigerians should not re-elect him. Today, the reality is that power supply has worsened, to the extent that there are even discussions about disconnecting the Presidential Villa from the national grid. Each time legitimate concerns are raised, what we see appears more like policy pronouncements than measurable progress. Now, again, we are confronted with another ₦3.3 trillion approval to settle power sector debts. These debts were largely accumulated under successive administrations of the All Progressives Congress between 2015 and 2025. This raises serious concerns about accountability, transparency, and effectiveness in public financial management. It is important to note that government institutions and agencies, including the Presidential Villa owe a significant portion of these debts. Year after year, budgets were made and funds appropriated. Why then were these obligations not settled when due? And from what source will this new payment be made? Are we resorting once more to borrowing to service inefficiencies? Key questions remain unanswered: How did the debt accrue? What is the actual total debt in the power sector? Which components of the debts are due to operators’ inefficiency and should be borne by them? Why have previous approvals not translated into tangible improvements? Who are the real beneficiaries of these repeated payments? Is the ₦3.3 trillion approved on April 6, 2026, the same as the ₦3.3 trillion approved in May 2024, and how does it relate to the ₦4 trillion bond approved in July 2024? Nigeria must move beyond recycled announcements and confront the power sector crisis with sincerity, transparency, and decisive reforms. Until we do so, we will remain trapped in a cycle of debt and darkness. But with discipline, accountability, and the right leadership, a new Nigeria is still possible. -PO

I have lost two friends to their husbands beating them to death, the most prominent one was married to a very useless and evil RCCG youth pastor, my friend was a hardworking banker and loved by her colleagues and her friends but the one problem who was a weapon fashioned against her was her useless husband. He is a jealous man, jealous of her achievements, controlling while he’s very jobless and lazy and dislike the facts that she’s so genuinely and truly loved by all. Every week is a different injury to her body and if I complain and tell her to leave her marriage she will say “she does not want her children to have two fathers and he will change “, he kept her off her friends and anytime her friends complain to him about the ways he’s treating her,he will tell her that her friends are prostitute and jealous that she’s married and wants her to be a single mother. In 2011 she didn’t come to work that morning which was so unusual of her even when titilayo is sick, she still call in at work and later return home so it unusual of her being absent at work, her friend called me that very day that she didn’t come to work and she wasn’t returning her call or BBM messages,I waved it off at first but later called but it was just ringing no returned call, then her friend suggested we go to her house during our lunch break time, mind you I was working in ikoyi while she was working at VI and lives in isolo,so I moved with her friend to her house. On getting to her house we knocked for some minutes with no response and I noticed her phone was ringing in the kitchen then I moved towards the kitchen entrance at the back, what I saw shocked my existence,I saw fresh blood all over the kitchen then I started shouting and raising alarm. People gathered to the back and broke the kitchen door, behold was my dear friend behind the kitchen cabinet dead and buttered like a ram at the abattoir,I screamed, cried, people were holding me and I was fighting them. It was the most horrific crime scene I have ever witnessed, the whole isolo neighborhood were filled with people that very day and her husband was later apprehended and at first he denied it,the RCCG church wanted to subvert the judgement so that he can be found not guilty but the forensic experts results indicted him and in 2019 he was finally sentenced to death by hanging and still awaiting the hangman nose. Her beautiful daughter is 18 this year and already at the university,I always pray she never meets a man like her father. Women need to LEARN TO LEAVE so that they can LIVE

My mum’s friends daughter got married to a real time abuser🥹🥹 Whenever he beats her, she’d run back home but her parents will send her back. The last time he beat her, the father of the lady said he won’t let her go back unless he comes with his family members to beg and not touch her again. He came with his family and the wife followed them back. Now he has beaten her to death with 5mths pregnancy 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 The only girl of her family, mehnnnnn💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔

Exactly two years ago, I stopped working, I retired fully. When I did, I said I would take a gap year from gainful employment and re-assess my options. Best thing I ever did, retirement, lol. I feel like I have earned retirement, I have been working practically nonstop since 1979, I am extremely proud of the journey but it turns out I was very tired from all that. I have enjoyed doing absolutely nothing all these months, so much so that I am extending the era of luscious indolence for one more year. I love retirement, I do. There's nothing to do, and that suits me just fine. I have been "doing" pretty much all my life, and yes, adulting is overrated. Well, I wouldn't say I have done nothing. We have traveled to places. My Lover loves traveling, loves the extended family, etc and we go to places to laugh, eat, chill, etc. I honestly didn't enjoy traveling to places. They were touristy and I'd already been to them in the books I read in my childhood. I rolled my eyes at the gondolas of Venice and smirked at Romeo and Juliet. Books and reading killed my interest in physical travel, I'd already been there in the books. But it was worth it seeing ML happy, she wanted to see places she'd read about in books, so we went. It was fine. What I have enjoyed most in retirement is being with family, my companion #BigLion and a few friends. Not to talk of aggravating and occasionally entertaining people on social media. And I went to Nigeria last year for two too long months. I am in therapy smh. When you are retired, time assumes less meaning. I am yet to get used to the idea that you can just stay in bed all day, eat and drink whatever and whenever you want (well depending on your health!). Yes, there are health challenges associated with aging depending on your genes, but overall I have been happy and healthy lol. Would I ever return to the structured world of work? Maybe to teach, but I doubt it. I don't need the money, I don't dream of riches, my pleasures are simple and I travel light, lol. What next? Do I have any grand plans for the rest of my life? No. No. No. I am just resting. If it happens, it happens. I'll think of something. Maybe. But for now, I rest. #Warrior

Christians, gazed at Tinubu’s forged certificates, phantom education, Mobil lies and drug-stained record and chose him over Peter Obi’s proven integrity. They crowned moral sewage as redeemer. Today, being Easter Sunday, yet the same lips will soon thunder “He is risen!” Christ bled for this? For a people who traded uprightness for rot, then draped their betrayal in resurrection robes? Where is the fear of God? Where is the salt that has lost all savour? You celebrate an empty tomb while enthroning the spirit that nailed Him there. If He returned today, would you dare present this Nigeria as the fruit of His cross? Perhaps the tomb is not the only thing empty. #HappyEasterSunday #HeIsRisen

Most of the kids here in X don't really understand that Nigeria was a giant Nigeria was so wealthy that it was sending engineers, doctors and professionals across Africa and the Caribbean for free. Today, it's reduced to parents struggling to get a branded carton of Maggie and tomato sauce with the photos of the president to feed kids they can't afford If all you know is hot, dirty water to drink, then cold, dirty water is an improvement Some of us drank clean water from a public tap
