I don't like talking about the cost of universal basic income, not because it's some high number, but because it assumes not doing it is FREE. We spend $1.5 TRILLION a year on the costs of child poverty alone. We cut child poverty by 40% for a cost of $100B in 2021. That would have been a $500B GAIN, but Congress decided that saving that much money cost too much. It's as dumb as saying that buying $100 for $20 is too expensive. What are we doing? We are 💯% fine spending any amount of money on wars and tax cuts for the rich, but I'm the one who has to defend spending public money in a way that reduces overall costs? I shouldn't have to convince anyone that investing $100 to get far more than $100 in return is a good deal. There are so many ways of going about UBI, and thus so many different price tags. It's not a simple answer. But what is simple is understanding that poverty, mass chronic insecurity, and extreme inequality all impose huge costs on our society. The cost of UBI is lower than the cost of not doing it.

@FillmoreWhite Thanks to my background in electronic warfare/energy propagation, it only took me seconds to notice the “experts” failed to account for interaction dominance when calculating radiative forcing values for greenhouse gases. Every climate model is significantly off because of it.

$200 BILLION IS ENOUGH TO: - Double the annual per‑person spending on K–12 education. - Expand the ACA tax credit for 7 years. - Provide up to 2 million people the SNAP benefits they need. - Provide a middle class tax break of $3,500. Instead, we will spend it on an illegal war. This is only the beginning. More money will be wasted. More lives will be lost.

@DrBenTapper1 Most of it ends up in the atmosphere as water vapor increases greenhouse gases, rainfall and snowfall. Has anyone noticed excessive rain or snow the past several years?

AI data centers can use up to five million gallons of water each day. Am I the only one concerned about how this could pose a serious threat to our farmers and our food supply? What happens when these centers seriously strain our aquifers and dry up irrigation systems? Is it really worth it?

@FillmoreWhite We don’t have the technology to support YOUR claim. Ice core samples only go back about 800,000 years (all during the current ice age). Beyond 800,000 years the data is “smoothed” over thousands/millions of years.
