@EvansRankings 1A leads the way with 7 private schools in the top 10. Certainly the classification impacted the most. Zero in 2a, two in 3a, and zero in 4A. Thats why the problem won’t be fixed, or even addressed, anytime soon.

The ER Outstanding Athletic Department Awards are based off the Track and Field Scoring System. Schools were awarded points based on performance in 2024-2025 State Tournaments.

@media_n2 I agree 100%. They treat it like a double elimination tourney that they don’t have time to finish out. Final 4 is top 4. Often the 5th place team already beat the 4th. (1A boys this season for example.) That should be sufficient.

Something that I think should be changed in the State Basketball tournaments... The trophy games should be for 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, and 5th/6th. If you make it to the final four, you should be guaranteed no less than 4th. Losing two games to top 4 teams shouldn't drop you to 5th.

@snovalleysports @EvansRankings @p_black_bat District tourney may be unnecessary if you reward the regular season champ instead of not valuing that entire season effort and leave it up to the potential of one bad game.

Since Luke won’t comment, I will. I am of the mindset that we need to move a postseason model where districts champions receive auto bids to state and the remaining slots are earned by your resume.

@snovalleysports @RylandSpencer @EvansRankings I’m a middle school football coach in eastern Washington (Columbia Basin) and pretty much every middle school has a football program. Most have a team for each grade. Also, I constantly get emails from orgs wanting me to nominate players to all-star teams. Completely ridiculous!

Thoughts @RylandSpencer and @EvansRankings? This seems like overkill, and WA athletes wouldn't benefit as there AFAIK are very few MS's in the state that offer football at the school level
