“The system is not working for women, babies and families, or for staff”
An important update from the Amos Investigation today. Critics will say there is nothing we don’t already know here - but unlike other maternity inquires, this is a diagnosis of the whole system.
If now need to translate to the right actions and real, rapid implementation via the Taskforce.

NHS doubled spending over 17 years from roughly £100 billion to £200 billion annually, with no meaningful improvement in the nation's health.
Life expectancy has flatlined. Healthy life expectancy is falling. In the most deprived areas, the figures are even worse.
This isn't a funding crisis. It's an prioritisation crisis. Until we measure what actually matters, healthy lives rather than medical-activity, we will keep spending more and suffering worse outcomes. Britain will be bust before I die. 1/2

@LNER Thank you. I'll maybe think twice before travelling with LNER next time.
English

@mkitching15 Dogs can travel provided they are kept on a lead and off the seats, or in a carrier.
English

@LNER Thanks, As I'm travelling with my wife and daughter I'm sat next to it which isn't ideal, but never mind. I'll make the on board staff aware when they get to us. Are dogs allocated a seat or are they meant to stay on the floor?
English

@mkitching15 My apologies, Mike. We do ask customers to keep pets on the floor. Please speak to a member of the onboard team, and they will be happy to find you an alternative seat.

This is shocking but unfortunately not surprising. It’s a complex issue to solve in large part due to the power differentials in general practice, the devaluing of nursing and lack of nursing voice at decision making levels

@alisonleary1 @louisebrady17 just wanted to highlight some of the challenges GPNs face still! I know how hard you guys are fighting for equal pay and recognition for registered nurses, yet still this goes on! I don’t know how to fix this.
