@hjluks I’ve personally tried cortisone (didn’t work long term) and PRP (worked very well after two treatments).

Cortisone injections remain commonly offered. The evidence against them — particularly for long-term outcomes — is consistent, compelling, and poor. A well-designed RCT in JAMA found that while cortisone provided better pain relief at 6 weeks, by 12 months the injection group had significantly worse outcomes than both physiotherapy and watchful waiting... with much higher recurrence rates. Short-term relief followed by long-term recurrence is not a trade worth making for a condition that resolves on its own. It's just not.

Pain on the outside of your hip is one of the most common problems I see in my practice. Walkers get it. Runners get it. People who've never been to a gym get it. For decades, we called it bursitis and injected it. We were treating the wrong thing.
